Good morning. I am up and showered and waiting for a job. One came through and woke me up last night but by the time that I managed to read what it was and hit the accept button, it was already taken. Hopefully one will show up soon today. If not, I think I’ll go back to bed by 7:30. But honestly today I’d rather work. I spent yesterday running around getting signed up with more districts for subbing so that should help with traffic in the next couple weeks.
RT is in Georgia right now. Last night we played a vicious game of scrabble where I got his goat by playing the word ‘zees’ for 39 points. What does this word mean, you ask? ‘Zees’ is the plural of Z. Well, anyways, it was in the scrabble dictionary so it worked for me.
It’s a cool 37 with a projected high of 49. Anything above freezing works for me.
Not much to do today, just like most other days.
I have to get some stuff together for the next few days, since I’ll be hanging with piddle pup.
Waiting to hear from the mortgage company. I can’t do anything about house hunting until Moonday anyway.
Foggy here as well. Irking on 4 hours of sleep. Stoooooopid insomnia. I have a very large blurf.
Laugh at Jynxster Moment: My co-irker and I created a new instruction, which we sent out for review. It came back with a note about a word. The note read “This needs a ‘T’ or are we buying people?” The word was asses vs assets. DOH!
Actually here this time. I’s been busy. Last night, we ran out of suitable packing boxes, so I gave up and watched tv. All we’ve got left are the giant bedding-sized boxes, and packing one of those suckers full of seldom-used appliances will mean it stays exactly where we tape it shut for the foreseeable future because we can’t move it.
Hopefully next week the house will be presentable enough that I can call a realtor to come look at it and tell us what we should do before listing and how much we can reasonably expect to get.
Mooom, I can’t imagine having to listen to interminable barking. Winchester only barks when he’s alarmed by something or super excited, but I know that once we move we’ll get a second dog that will probably teach him how to bark. Not looking forward to that … but second dog!
Good morning all. Checking in. It was so foggy this morning coming in that I thought I had wandered onto the set of Stephen King’s “The Fog”. Was expecting some serious monsters that would eat my car.
Drae have you had an inspection done on your house for the mechanical and structural stuff? I watch enough HGTV and DIY channels to know that it’s nice to know what’s wrong with the house before the potential buyer finds it.
That’s on the list of Things To Do. I already know that we’re going to have to replace all the damn windows or credit the buyer, but that obviously can’t be done until spring. There’s no telling what kind of other work needs to be done, but the good news is that a lot of it might be the responsibility of the condo association, rather than me having to shell out the money for it. Of course, if we could get the property managers to do anything when we ask them, that would be helpful.
last month, a friend, a very good man, passed away after a long illness. Today I found out another friend is on his last legs, as in “if you want to say goodbye, do it now”.
It’s foggy here too, and, it was acccident central around these here parts today. The first accident occurred as I was making a right-had turn to go to my usual quad shot Americano stop. I was turning right, and there was someone trying to turn left off the same street I was turning into. The problem with her going as I was turning was that there was LOTS of traffic behind me in both lanes headed south. She turned out either smacked someone or someone smacked her. I didn’t see that part because it occurred as I was turning.
Anyway, got my go juice, and headed on in to work. As I was traveling on I-5, near where I need to exit to get to work, there was a multi-car accident on the shoulder that slowed things down. Just past that, was ANOTHER multi-car accident in the exit only lane I need to take to get to work.
So, I’m here at work and in about an hour and a half, I’ll need to log into a three hour DCO training on this year’s Performance Plan. I am not looking forward to it. I hates it, yes I does!
GRRRR, WTF and Blurf all wrapped into one. I got a call late last week for a gig starting today through tomorrow, pencil it in as I have no details. This is one of my worst clients as gigs from them fall through all the time, about $3500 worth last year. I notice a text this am, from 11pm last night, show up at 11am today and a place. To paraphrase Cartman.
Irk is definitely irksome so far. It started with a voicemail from a participant saying she was not goin’ back to her host agency as she wants to work full-time and so she just needs to go find a job. Ummm… DUH!.. that’s the whole point. Anywho, she has been a problem child all along. I called her trainin’ site and spoke with her supervisor who told me that she had indeed texted this mornin’ to state the same thing and at this point even if she wanted to come back, she would not be welcome there. So, I call her and ever so politely (da bear is couth above all!) asked if this is her true desire to leave. Havin’ gotten a yes and her statement in writin’ even, she is history. Bye-bye problem child!
Another problem child has also acted up to the point her site has said she’s not welcome back as well. She is on leave without pay pendin’ placement at another agency. Given the problems she has caused (insubordination, refusal to get off the dang cellphone, refusal to follow instructions) it might take me thirty days after which I can say, “Gee, there’s nothin’ available at this time. My only option is to exit you from services.” TPTB are even backin’ me up on this as they know what a PITA she’s been. YAY!
Fortunately I have two people, who appear to be excellent candidates, to slide right on in those slots. YAY!
Oh and those two problem chilluns are ones I inherited and have been wantin’ to make go away for two years. YAY!
Today has been a day of mehcanical things. I got the car fixeded, and it’s feeling sooo much nicer to drive, I didn’t realise how much difference the rusty exhaust was making!
I also took the bike down to a local hippy co-op bike maintenance club, which I discovered right down the road. Definitely a good idea. Not only can they get replacement and new bits in far cheaper than the shops, they spent ages showing me how to do a bunch of stuff. I’m a bit greasy now, but I feel like a Proper Grown Up, doing repair stuff myself.
I haven’t got the bike in a useable state quite yet though, as it turns out it needed a somewhat specialist inner tube on one wheel (it needs a different one on each, they have different valves- wha?), and the existing one was pretty much beyond repair- they’re ordering one in for me though, and it shouldn’t need too much doing. I just hope the rain stays off long enough for me to go play with it when it’s fixed!
Howdy from da cave! Irk is over for the day. Two more to go. Woo and Hoo. I shall nukelate some chikin noodle soup (homemade!) for dindin. It’s cool and windy out so a soup kinda day. Tomorrow I shall make country fried steak, squish, butterbeans, smashed N.O.T. and cornbread. It’s a welcome back OYKW dindin and one of his favorite meals. Have I mentioned lately how spoiled the critter is?
well the food news is
I qualified for a mortgage
the bad news is
because of some changes I don’t qualify for as much as I had hoped
Now to get serious and start looking
YAY! for losing PITAs Swampy

Got the grocery shopping done so I’m all ready to sit with piddlepup for the next 4 days. Then I really really have to get them to understand they must find another sitter.
