  2. Name all of Tegan’s relatives who became entangled in the Doctor’s adventures.

  3. What is the layman’s term for the irrational fear of robots?

  4. Which actress / former companion posed nude (!) with a Dalek (!!) ?

  5. Give the Brigadier’s full name, and rank when first he encountered the Doctor.

  6. How old was Romana? (at least, what age did she state she was, once?)

  7. Who were the Tong of the Black Scorpion?

  8. The Doctor kept a diary of his travels for approximately how many years?

  9. How did the Doctor realize that Sarah-Jane had been captured & replaced by a Kraal android duplicate?

  10. What planet did the Rani rule (when the sixth Doctor first encountered her) and what disaster did she inflict upon the populace there?

  1. Alaistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart

  2. Magnus Greel’s henchmen.

  3. She drank some ginger pop. (IIRC, there was also something else.)

Tom Baker was by far the best Dr. Who.
[sup]just say’in[/sup]

Carry on.

    • You got his name right, but forgot his rank.
    • correct.
    • incorrect, but close. “She” did do that, but the Doctor already knew “she” wasn’t the real Sarah because - ??
  1. Katy Manning, who played companion Jo Grant

Why am I picturing a Dalek saying “Impregnate! Impregnate!”?

Auntie Vanessa (I’ve seen a little of her). Her cousin Colin Frazier. And her grandfather, whose name escapes me.

You mean robophobia or Grimwade’s Syndrome?

Lethbridge-Stewart was a colonel when he first met the Doctor.

He is seen with a 500-year diary. In the telemovie, IIRC it has become a 900-year diary. The Doctor’s handwriting must be very small.

duality72 got the correct answer for #4.

Nonsuch,
2. Auntie Vanessa (she had such a small part to play! ), Cousin Colin and her grandfather are all correct answers.

  1. Grimwade’s syndrome was the term I was looking for.

  2. Again, correct.

  3. The diary recounted 500 years as of the events of “the Sontarin Experiment.” I don’t recall the mention of it in the Fox movie.

The first image returned in a google image search confirms this.

Maybe the diary is bigger on the inside.

  1. IIRC the first clue was when the real Sarah lost her scarf, but the duplicate still had it. Or something.

Gah! I have to sign off now. :smack: I can’t post any answers, and by the time I get back, they’ll all be answered. Please, post some more question.

Okay, and I’ll repost the unanswered ones as well…

  1. What lethal element were Sarah-Jane & various captured Kaleds & mutos forced to load aboard the Thal missile?

  2. How old was Romana? (at least, what age did she state she was, once?)

  3. What planet did the Rani rule (when the sixth Doctor first encountered her) and what disaster did she inflict upon the populace there?

Peter Morris had the correct answer to #9.

New questions -

  1. Five companions left the Doctor to go off with love interests - name the companions & the love interests.

  2. Two companions did not have proper on-screen introductions. Who were they, and what were the circumstances in which they appeared?

  3. One companion did not get a proper farewell seen. Name that character. (this question excludes Ace, who was still with the Doctor at the end of the first series.)

  4. What do the initials C.V.E. stand for, and what phenomenon does it relate to?

  5. Who claims to have coined the term ‘TARDIS’?

  6. Five different actors have portrayed different character roles as both guest-stars and series regulars. Name them, and the parts they played.

These are difficult without Googling … but I guess that’s part of the fun. I’ll permit myself to give partial answers to some questions.

Leela and Andred. //shudder
Peri and King Yrcanos.
Jo and Prof. Jones

You got me on the rest.

Liz Shaw. (Though I think you could argue Harry Sullivan too.)

Charged Vacuum Emboidment. The conduit to E-Space, through which the Logopolitans made normal space an open system and thus forestalled the entropic decline of N-Space, the normal universe. (Someone owes me a cookie for this response.)

Susan.

Ian Marter: Harry Sullivan (regular) and Andrews from Carnival of Monsters (guest).
Jacqueline Hill: Barbara (regular), character from Meglos (guest)
Nick Courtney: The Brigadier (regular), Bret Vyon (guest)

Again, I’m tapped out at three.

  1. Mel, of course. And depending on your definition, Sgt. Benton, Mike Yates, and Harry Sullivan pretty much just showed up.

  2. Mary Tamm as Romana I.

  3. Lalla Ward (played the princess on The Armageddon Factor and Romana); John Leeson (played one of the people on the monitoring station in “The Power of Kroll” and also K9); Colin Baker (had a bit part as a guard in one of the Fifth Doctor’s adventures), Anthony Ainley (Played Tremas in “The Keeper of Traken” and the Master), Ian Marter (played the first mate of a ship in “Carnival of Monsters” and Harry Sullivan)

Can’t believe I forgot Lalla Ward and Colin Baker. :smack:

Looks like Reality Chuck and I collectively earn extra credit.

Answers so far:

  1. Jo, Leela & Peri are three of the five companions. Two more (and their flames) to be named.

  2. Mel of course is right, Harry was the other one (he was simply assumed to be part of UNIT all along in his first episode, while Benton & Yates were at least introduced themselves when they showed up.)

  3. Liz Shaw was the answer I was looking for. IMO, the Mary Tamm Romana doesn’t count, since the character didn’t leave - she was just recast.

Nonsuch is correct on questions # 14 and 15.

  1. Actually I had forgotten Lalla Ward & John Leeson (& Anthony Ainley also) as well. So, there are actually EIGHT folks who’ve played regulars - Jacqueline Hill, Ian Marter, Colin Baker, Lalla, John & Anthony who have already been guessed. There are actually two more actors left unaccounted for in this question.

Alright, I have to sign off. Someone take over on the questions until tomorrow.

Susan left the Doctor for David Campbell in The Dalek Invasion of Earth

Susan & Mel

Dodo. She just sort of wanders off in the middle of The War Machines and is never seen again. At the end Ben and Polly turn up with a message from her to The Doctor.
some more questions.
17. An apple a day keeps … what?
18. The seeds of … what?
19. Which fictional detective links two Doctors and a companion?
20. Where did the Galaxy’s greatest philosopher go wrong?
21. Who links Withnail and I.
22. Who did The Doctor hope would be friendly?
23. Why might The Doctor distrust the Mayor of Streetham?

And in The Myth makers companion Vickie left the tardis for her true love Troilis.

I disagree with Harry. I don’t really see any difference between his introduction and any other companion. It’s fairly clear that they were meeting for the first time in Robot, and Harry was previously unaware of UNIT’s scientific advisor. I think he was a new recruit to UNIT.
