The Donald Sterling Omnibus Thread

Geez, that guy just keeps digging a hole for himself. Will people shut up now about the faux privacy concerns after Sterling came out and said all those things on CNN? And to attack Magic Johnson, probably the most popular guy in LA? For that alone he should be kicked out of the league

It completely boggles my mind that someone like him has managed to amass such a fortune. He’s an old fool.

It doesn’t take a genius to become rich. Just a nice launching pad, some luck, and some sociopathy. Once you’re in the club, you rarely have to leave the bubble.

Sociopathy? The above reads like a parody of far-left thought.

Well it’s not necessarily mandatory but it’ll do in a pinch if you haven’t got genius. The point is that being financially successful doesn’t necessarily mean you have significant positive traits. It might just be that you have the right combination of negative ones.

The latest news is that:
“A person close to the family told the Associated Press that Shelly Sterling took over the family’s assets because Donald Sterling, 80, was stripped of his ability to act as a co-trustee after two neurologists determined he was suffering from dementia.”

Anyone here know much about dementia–and to what extent it could explain Sterling’s behavior starting with his rant to his girlfriend?

Sociopathy? Then I understand the sale to Ballmer.

While it could theoretically contribute to his little rant, given his past history it seems unlikely it had anything to do with it.

As an example a former supervisor of mine had a father suffering from senile dementia. The gentleman in question was an educated, decent man who according to his son never had a racist word about anyone in his life ( at least in his son’s hearing ). But one day in a restaurant he let loose with a bit of racist profanity at a waitress over some minor upset, much to the horrible embarrassment of his family. That’s dementia at work.

Sterling on the other hand has a longgggg history of being a racist scumbag. Not to mention his comments come off as reasonably lucid, not a sudden outburst.

So it seems that Mr. Sterling is kinda sore at having lost his basketball team:[

Man, we all thought this story was over with… :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s never over if there is money at stake.

Well, TMZ has deep pockets, but what does he expect to collect from Stiviano? I’m genuinely shocked. I would have thought the last thing he’d want is for all of this to become news again.

  • — Yogi Berra (rejected draft) *

“TMZ’s legal team objected to this characterization, citing as precedents Yersinia pestis v. Europe, Asteroid v. Dinosaurs and Drugs v. Vicious.”

Billionaire, first name of Donald, hyperbolic lawsuit against a media company…

I honestly thought this was a Trump thread. :smack:

In a bizarre finish to the whole Sterling saga, Sterling and his wife are not getting divorced.

Perhaps he found out how much he’d lose if he went through with it. Assuming they’re still separated, of course.

Uh, what finish to the whole saga? The news bit does not mention anything about dropping the lawsuit against TMZ and V. Stiviano.
