But Sterling tells his girlfriend he doesn’t mind if she fucks black guys, just as long as she doesn’t put photos of herself with them on Instagram. Say what? And he says “you think I’m racist” and “there’s no racism here”.
Does this make sense to anyone? I mean, even from the way we understand racists to think? I cannot figure it out, and I’m just puzzled by it.
Simple – he’s just the same as any other racists, trying to rationalize their own bullshit, because they don’t want people calling them out on it. How many times do you hear people say, “I’m not a racist, BUT…” They’re cowards, who want to have their cake (say racist bullshit) and eat it too (not be called a racist).

Sure, but that’s the same for Duck Dynasty Phil and the rancher-moocher guy. However, those guys presumably don’t invite their girlfriends to have sex with black guys. That’s the part I’m finding puzzling.
The “I’m turned in by the idea of my girl getting fucked by a black man” thing is often connected by strange views on race.
It needn’t necessarily be that. Maybe he has little personal feeling for this girl and he honestly doesn’t care whom she has sex with so long as he doesn’t “get calls” about it.
People don’t want to admit they are racists, few people say they are now matter how obviously racist they are. None of this surprises me, deadbeat ranchers and sports team owners are likely candidates to make blatantly racist statements followed by “I’m not a racist”.
I don’t necessarily assume that. Particularly among, as I say, the type of people like the Western rancher and the Southern duck hunter, I am going to assume before they say anything that they have retrograde views on race.
A billionaire L.A. NBA owner? That one is a tad more surprising. Not that he’d be subtly racist in the way that scads of people are, but that he’d be blatantly so.
Judging by the way he speaks to her in the tape, I’d think the assertion quoted above is correct. At least at first they must have both been getting something they wanted out of their arrangement, but I’m guessing true love and affection weren’t those things.
He’s still married too, though apparently in name only.
And at his age, there might be some dementia setting in, which might explain a lot.
Racism is socially unacceptable these days and being called a “racist” even if your views and behaviors are indeed those of a racist is deemed to be insulting. It causes dissonance in people and as we all know, people will do almost anything to prevent themselves from experiencing cognitive dissonance about their beliefs or actions.
What I find to odd is that Sterling:
A) Seems to claim several times during their conversation/argument that his girlfriend is “White.” - Since she isn’t even a lighter-skinned AFro-Latina, it seems odd that he would even attempt to claim to HER that she is one.
b) Seems not recognize that she steering the conversation into problem areas for him - For man much older than her, he should have had enough experience with women to know that you aren’t going to “win” most arguments and that some have the ability to get you say things that you might think, but wouldn’t normally say out loud (it’s called pushing your buttons.)
c) Insults the country of Israel by stating that it is a racist society - While everyone knows that Israelis have problems with Arabs, the discrimination against Ethiopian Jews is often denied by both government and the Israeli media.
It’s odd that no one from Israel has spoken up and denies Sterlings rather offensive blanket statements about the nation.
d) As an 82 year old billionaire philanderer would even have an argument with his mistress. - She’s nothing more than an employee with benefits and the LA Basin is full of 20-30 year old beauties who would kill for a wealthy and elderly sugar grandaddy.
If she didn’t so what he said, he should have streeted her (better, had his gatekeeper kick her to the curb) and fill that role immediately with another young woman who would jump when he told her to do so and would ask “How high?”

Right. Even in the tape, if you listen to the extended version, it’s clear that while she doesn’t like his racism in general, she was sort of trying to respect his wishes and had thought two people would still be okay to put on her Instagram. One guy, because he was “light-skinned” (lighter than she is, she said); the other was Magic and she didn’t articulate a reason but we can presume it’s “you know, because he’s Magic Johnson”.
Yeah, he’s telling her she’s making him look bad with some other people. But…
…but, the thing is, never mind sex! If you’re in an NBA owner’s inner circle, be it as drinking/poker buddy, close business partner, relative, playmate, wouldn’t hanging out with NBA stars and getting your picture taken with them be part of the expected perks? Like it has been stated in the last few posts, anyone of us would say “But of course if she’s hanging out with Magic Johnson she’ll post a picture of it… wouldn’t anyone?”
Didn’t it cross his mind she would? Or does he so much see the players as mere “labor” rather than celebrities that not even Magic *&^%$# Johnson is cool for the boss’ playmate to be seen with?
