The Drudge Report

Is Matt Drudge a right-wing conservative? I know nothing about the guy himself, but the vast majority of articles published on the Drudge Report page seem to take a conservative stance.

For example: the current lead story on the Drudge Report is “Lieberman campaigned during holy day; Did not abstain” and he recently removed his link to the Boston Globe because they suspended a columnist (who happens to be one of the few conservatives on the Globe staff) for a breach in ethics. So is it just my imagination or does Matt have an agenda?

Whoops. Meant to put this in GQ, but now that I think about it, it’s sort of a mundane and pointless quesiton

Yes, Matt Drudge has an agenda. He was one of the most outspoken anti-Clinton journalists I can think of. His hatred of liberalism knows no bounds.

Drudge is certainly known for bashing Clinton. But what journalist wouldn’t? There’s just so much material…
What will be interesting to see is how Drudge will behave is Dubya gets in office.

Yes he is a hypocritical badly-closeted gay right-winger. Hes also morally hypocritical and a bit of an ass.

I check out Drudge every day and I think it is pretty safe to say he leans to the right. However, I don’t think he has exactly tried to hide that or come across as an impartial journalist. He has a very popular website where he puts on what he wants to put on. It has lead to an apparently vast network of contacts, heavy noteriety, and a porbable financial boon.

More power to him.

I’ve been reading Drudge since way back when he just posted his ramblings directly to alt.soc.gossip.

It certainly seems that on a peronal level he is on the social conservative side, but when it comes to his web site I am pretty sure he would post mud about anybody. He was all over Newt’s divorce and has posted mud about many Republicans and other conservatives.

What is particularly amazing to me is that 5 years ago you would never have expected him to break-out as a political force. He was playing almost entirely in the entertainment industry (of course, you would never have expected him to break-out at all).
