The Eighth Plague of Egypt -- Bears in Trees!

For some reason, I see a lot of Bears in Trees reports on the news lately. This one caught my eye because it’s near where I grew up in NJ:

And I just saw a report on last night’s news about another bear brought down with tranquilizers in Milwaukee. (Can’t find an on-line story). What’s going on, Yogi?

Well, the eighth plague was locusts, but I think there’s an opening for Plague Eleven.

Being the humorless pedant that I am, I might add that the spread of suburbs into formerly wooded areas means that bears are losing their habitat and are hanging out near people as a result. But that wouldn’t be very funny.

Drop bears are so routine here they don’t rate headlines any more.
