Fucking hilarious!

During our company-wide meeting yesterday, we were given a sneak peak at a press announcement that went out a few hours later: Apparently Skyrim has sold ten million units, crushing everything else this month and setting a new record for games.

As much as she can be a whiny nag, I am providing Lydia with all sorts of sordid context to try and make it less annoying. You see, we have a close bond of sword sisterhood and though our feelings run much deeper, we are bound by honor not to act on those feelings a la Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. For I married Iona in Riften, who was the first person to eye my Necklace of Mara. But all I do is make her buy or sell for me, hand over my share of the store proceeds, or make me dinner. We don’t chat. We don’t banter. I barely ever sleep there, and when I do I am eager to get out on the trail to gaze longingly out of the corner of my eye at Lydia’s ebony-encrusted knockers.

I smith and enchant for her little clandestine jeweled tokens of my unspoken yet undying love, and name them sappy and trite names.

So, obviously, her sour moods and occasional bad attitude is all just due to untapped sexual tension.

Is that why she creeps into my room to stare at me while I’m sleeping?
“Oh, good morning, my Thane. I was just, um…I thought I left my, ah…Is it hot in here?”
“Yes. This bedroom was built directly over the downstairs fire pit, Lydia.”

For the record, I killed off Lydia pretty early in the game (and her corpse magically teleported itself to my house in… Winterhold? Wherever she’s from.)

Now I’m using Jadis the Sword-Maiden, and I gotta say, she KICKS ASS compared to Lydia. More than once I’m busy with one mob (while trying to level up my pitiful one-handed skill), and I turn around and she’s killed all the others.

Plus, she doesn’t whine like Lydia does. And she’s a SWORD-MAIDEN. She rocks!

I’ve been taking turns with all the possible followers I can (wait! not like that!) and Jadis is one of my favorites. At one of the Dragon Shout places, there is a trap door, and a necromancer at the bottom looking for subjects for his experiments. First time through, I fell down, and he killed me. I reloaded, and carefully avoided the pit. Reading straight from the Skyrim Followers Handbook, Jadis waited until I had avoided the pit, and then plotted a path directly to my new position - straight across the trap. I had to spend 5 minutes finding my way down to the cage at the bottom, only to find Jadis just standing there, waiting, surrounded by dead bodies.

It’s Jordis. “Jordis the Shield-Maiden.” Not Jadi. Jadis is the White Witch from The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.

I got the impression that she’s looking to leave the “Maiden” part once she meets any male Dovahkiin. Jordis, that is. Not Jadis. Jadis is a total Ice Queen.

(Unfortunately, because of the glitch which occurs often with Lydia, she often gets killed because her health isn’t scaling properly. Jordis doesn’t seem to have this bug, and because she starts in Solitude will join at a much higher level anyway. However, the two characters are supposedly identical.)

Ain’t that the truth, and it’s bloody annoying. Can’t count the times I’ve been like "ok, cool, obvious trap is there, couple bad guys in the room below unaware, just need to ready this spell and WHY IS THERE A GRATE IN MY FACE AGH !. I seriously wish they did it like Morrowind, where followers followed exactly in your footsteps no matter how silly it looked or how dangerous to their health jumping down a mountain without 100 Acrobatics was.
Would help with their problems with inclines too - for some reason some hills they simply will not climb (whether up or down) without any amount of prodding, moving back and forth in front of them etc… I swear, it’s like hiking with small children. “You can do it, Jenassa, you’re a strong Dark Elf assassin hunter woman and it’s only a 20° incline. Come on. Come to daddy. Look, look how easy it is. You comin’ down or what ?.. Well, it’s OK sweetie, I know gentle slopes can be scary, daddy will give you a hand. Fus… RO DAAAAH !”

Lines of dialogue they forgot to record for Lydia:

“I can’t jump over that, it’s as high as my knee!”

Holy shit - that’s…

Does ball park maths

… around 350 million dollars! IN A MONTH!!! This game is going to shit money from here on in.

I just kind of collect the followers and then make them stand around in my houses. I take the time to equip them with top gear, too, but they are just walking trophy cases.

Well…I’m now level 42 and had previously played the same character up to level 30 or so until all saves were wipped out.

I just discovered how you learn shouts. See…I hadn’t noticed the “unlock” command, and since when I clicked on a shout, the message “you need dragon souls to…” popped up, I had assumed I needed to finish some quest, probably for the greybeards, to be able to learn new shouts and was waiting for this to happen. I hadn’t been very involved in the main quest, so the fact that I was still unable to use my stockpile of dragon souls to learn new shouts didn’t surprise me much.

Now I’ve new weapons at my disposal. Even though I’m not really sure what to do with them, since you can’t really use your bow, cast a spell, shout, save your horse, avoid killing your follower and move around your fucking dog who’s always blocking the way at the same time.

Those shouts would have come in handy earlier in the game, though.

By the way, both dogs (always blocking you, as I mentioned. Worse case scenario : being followed by two dogs in narrow tunnels) and the horses (alternatively charging in a fight and getting killed, or fleeing and getting lost) need some improvements.

In their tongue he’s dovahkiin…dragonborn! :stuck_out_tongue:

(that is now set as the ring tone and email alert for my boss, who also plays the game)

Sheesh, I know. I’ve been calling her Jadis ever since I found her whilst simultaneously telling myself “that’s the white witch. Her name is JORDIS, not JADIS.”

Apparently I’ll never remember. I wish I could just rename her.

She uses objects to protect herself. She wouldn’t want to take an arrow to the knee. She’d have to give up adventuring forever.

…aaand welcome to every Youtube comment, ever. The non-racist ones that is.

So I’m fulling addicted. I’m at work and can’t stop thinking about playing tonight. Here are some of the random thoughts I’ve had today after completing the lycanthropy questlines:

-I wonder if being a werewolf now means I’ll turn during a full moon.
-That’d be awesome if there were packs of feral werewolves in the wild.
-I wish there were more dangerous creatures hunting me in the wild.
-I wonder what the Helgi girl said at the end of the vampire questline (I accidently tabbed and ended the conversation, she disappeared)
-I swear to God I’m going to find a way to kill Barbas if he keeps pushing me and interrupting my sniper shots.
-I swear to God if Lydia runs in front of my arrow again I’m not going to reload the save game.
-That nude mod adds more realism to the game. I’m going to keep it installed for the…realism.
-Where should I go when I play tonight?
-I wonder what that gauntlet with the fingers does under the mage college…I should Google it.
-That hunter camp with the female hunters bathing in the hot springs was a nice touch. The realism added with the nude mod is amazing!

I can’t shut my mind off of Skyrim! On the bright side I figured I’m going to bring all my screenshots to work and organize a nice album of some sort. That will keep me busy for a bit!

That is not sold. That is shipped.

I’m guessing they’ve sold about half as many units.

Valve has said that the game broke all Steam records for fastest selling game of all time on that platform too.

I’m just walking around going FUS! randomly in my building (almost no one here, since it’s the holidays). :stuck_out_tongue: The echos make it really fun. Plus I have a Fus Ro Doh! button on my desktop that I hit whenever my boss comes in, just because it annoys him.

I don’t know if you want answers to your questions (or random thoughts on your musings) or just want to figure it out for yourself, but I’ll give you my take in the spoiler box below.

-I wonder if being a werewolf now means I’ll turn during a full moon.

Nope…you only turn werewolf when you use the ability.

-That’d be awesome if there were packs of feral werewolves in the wild.

I haven’t actually seen any werewolves roaming about in the world. I’ve seen a couple in dungeons, mainly either dead on torture racks or in cages…and if you try and free them they just basically attack you, so it’s not a good idea.

-I wish there were more dangerous creatures hunting me in the wild.

Depending on your level and your spec there are some dangerous critters out there. Elder dragons spring to mind…I STILL have trouble with them, though it’s mainly trouble with them killing my demon horse or pack mule, which sparks a reload.

-I wonder what the Helgi girl said at the end of the vampire questline (I accidently tabbed and ended the conversation, she disappeared)

That one I couldn’t tell you because I don’t remember either. I don’t, in fact, remember that quest line at all, to be honest.

-I swear to God I’m going to find a way to kill Barbas if he keeps pushing me and interrupting my sniper shots.

Just one word…FUS RO DAH! (ok, that was more than one, but you get the idea ;))

-I swear to God if Lydia runs in front of my arrow again I’m not going to reload the save game.

See above.

-That nude mod adds more realism to the game. I’m going to keep it installed for the..realism.

Sure…that’s, um, why I am going to install it as well. Definitely…

-Where should I go when I play tonight?

That’s the beauty of the game. Me, I’ve decided that I’m going to get all of the shouts before I start the final push on what I think is the main quest line. I’m supposed to go talk to the Jarl at Whitehome again about trapping a dragon in his hall, and I’m interested in seeing how he takes that, but I want to get all the shouts first.

-I wonder what that gauntlet with the fingers does under the mage college…I should Google it.

If you figure it out, let me know…I had forgotten all about that one. :smack:

-That hunter camp with the female hunters bathing in the hot springs was a nice touch. The realism added with the nude mod is amazing!

I’m sad I missed that one…
