Yeah, at this point even GameFAQs is on the verge of obsolescence.
I don’t remember which one, but either Gamespy or IGN is planning to do a 4 hour walk through of the game on the 11th, basically showing the creation of a character through the initial adventures, for anyone who wants some hints and tips on getting started. I also believe they are planning a review (already written it seems) of the game on the 11th as well.

Nah, I enjoyed the guide for Morrowind, mostly 'cause it was funny in the way they wrote it, but that was the first and last guide I’ve ever bought. I got stuck on the Mages Guild quest in Oblivion where you’ve got to solve a puzzle to complete it, but I chose not to look it up simply because I’d rather figure it out myself, and all that equated to was more time spent playing a great game, a win on both sides. I’ve already promised myself not to look anything up for Skyrim, I will suffer through the game no matter how difficult it gets, simply because of my love for the series. I’m hoping something slows me down, otherwise I’ll rush through it and only get 300+ hrs. of gameplay instead of the possible endless amount available.
@ SenorBeef, Kinthalis, and smiling bandit, with all due love and respect for my fellow human comrades, I do have to wonder where you’d vote on this poll I started some time ago…and that’s all I’ll say about that, I even explain my position on using smilies for bandit. The reason why is simply because at first I wasn’t using them, then people got mad and even irate over some of my comments, so I started using them a lot to show that I am in no way upset or angry over the discussion, and no amount of prodding or ‘button-pushing’ will make me angry. If that upsets you because I’m in control of my emotions (for the most part, I’m human too), then I apologize, you cannot force me to retaliate though, I will not stoop to pointing fingers or insults (etc), which means I will not fall for SenorBeef’s blatant trap to incite anger with his thread in ATMB. ![]()
Side note: have I already said that Skyrim’s almost here?!?!?!?!?!?! ![]()
Here is a little preview video that Bethesda just posted (minor plot spoilers). I’m intrigued.
Crap! Beth shut down the vid ![]()
I’ve been trying to avoid videos like that anyway, need to preserve my suspension of disbelief. My philosophy is that anything my character would know (like the layout of the province) is fine for me to know, but my mage isn’t supposed to be a chronomancer or moth priest able to divine the future.
There were no plot points revealed in the video.
It does seem that the bow and arrows will be of some use. In Oblivion, I never bothered but in this game, the usefulness of the bow and the 3x damage sneak attack perk will strongly tempt me to partake in shadow sniping.
Also, there’s a perk that allows for 15x damage with a dagger when sneak attacking. They put that one in just for Heller the Backstabber.
PC People - Steam pre-load is live!
It doesn’t appear as an option for me. What should I do? I see Skyrim greyed out in in Library but that’s it. There is no topion to download and the downloads menu doesn’t show Skyrim.
Restart your steam client.
Also, it might depend on your location.
You’re mission, should you choose to accept it, is to upload a clip of gameplay. (you lucky dog you)
Not so lucky. Steam Pre-load is live, so we can download the game and be ready… for unlock time. We can’t play until (I’m assuming) midnight Thursday.
So it’s worse. You don’t even have the game yet. Ours is sitting on our hard drive mocking us until the end of the week!
I better finish my Nightmare run on Rage quick then! Gotta clear room on my SSD for this, and Steam does not offer any way to spread your library over multiple hard drives without hacking it.
Those bastards, I say hack into it!!! (only joking of course, I don’t recommend doing that ;))
This is a “hack” in the sense that it’s not built into the steam client, but all you’ll ever have to do is click a little arrow for each game you want on your SSD.
Use symbolic links:
You simply:
-
Close Steam.
-
Cut and paste the folder with the game unto your other hard drive.
-
Right click on the moved folder and choose “Set link source”.
-
Right click back in our steam folder where the game folder used to be and choose “drop as -> symbolic link”.
That’s it. As far as the OS (and Steam) is concerned, the folder exists in the same drive as the Steam app, even though it doesn’t really.
Or forget all of that crazy l33t h4ck0r nonsense and just use Steam Mover.
Googling around I found this story. Apparently the plan is to release it at midnight eastern time; which means you’ll get it late on the 10th if you are in a more western time zone.
Some people were chatting about the strategy guide earlier; look at the size of the bloody thing!
