If you play Oblivion on it, you will be fine. According to Pete whatever his name is, one of the devs, low on PC = console settings. And low on PC still looks pretty decent.
I would guestimate that if you can play Oblivion on medium, you cna play this on at least low.
For Skyrim here are the minimum and recommended specs (kind of amazed the minimum is that…minimum):
Minimum:
Dual-core CPU, 2.0 GHz or faster
2 GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c video card with 512 MB RAM
6 GB HDD space
Windows XP/Vista/7 [32 or 64-bit]
Internet access for Steam activation
Recommended:
Quad-core CPU
4 GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c video card with 1 GB RAM - GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher
6 GB HDD space
Windows XP/Vista/7, internet access, etc.
Ah, or better yet, build it from scratch, I built mine for a little under $1,100, and according to some site I was looking at it can run the ultra no problem. I’d recommend starting with a higher-end Gigabyte MB and try to get the i7 920 quad core, always good to have a decent starting point and you can make sure it’s custom designed to do exactly what you want it to (also a lot cheaper than buying something off a shelf, or at least in price/performance terms).
Almost makes me want to get the PC version…almost.
Then why the hell aren’t you getting it for PC? Jesus H. If you can run well it on PC, you should get it on PC. Three reasons: Visuals, mods, console. That is, the command console. I can’t think of one advantage the 360 or PS3 would have over a beast of a PC. Complete lunacy!
Anyway, it unlocks on Steam in now less that 2 hours here, so I started a post-release thread here.
Oh, gods, the anticipation is killing me. I feel like I’m actually buzzing. Well, maybe that’s my immune system killing off the last of a cold that’s been dogging me for the past twelve days.
I’m getting ready to head out to go to the midnight release here. And I still have to work tomorrow
Would have downloaded it off of Steam like I did with Oblivion but we’ve been having two problems here, one annoying and one funny. One is that our internet provider has been sketchy lately and speed has stunk lately. The other is that our tiny 12-week-old kitten has decided that the router is one of the nicest places in the house to sleep. It’s warm and there are cords to play with! Plus there’s something quite fun about going to a midnight release.
