The Elvira that Saved Halloween

Elvira is using her considerable influences to promote observing Halloween, even in the Age of COVID

So, CNN post a story about a celeb trying to keep halloween from being cancelled, and most of the article discusses her looks.
Sad!

The whole POINT of Elvira is her looks. It’s her product; her trademark.

A story about Elvira without mentioning her looks makes as much sense as a story about John Deere without mentioning tractors.

it’s Elvira’s stunning face.

. . . looking like she hasn’t aged a day since creating her alter-ego nearly 40 years ago.

. . .

. . .

Fans were delighted to see her new work, with one commenting, “. . . It’s astounding that Elvira looks so good. I say keep going!”

Yeah, you’re right its just about her trademark character. What was I thinking?

I’ve heard her interviewed on a podcast once. Nerdist, maybe? She’s very funny and smart. Notice the Elvis t shirt in the video? She dated Elvis early in her pre- Elvira career as a showgirl.

Watch her second movie sometime – Elvira’s Haunted Hills is obviously a not-so-veiled reference to her attributes, but the film is a spot-on sendup of the early 1960s Roger Corman Edgar Allen Poe movies, right down to the opening credits and Richard O’Brien’s weird dark glasses that copy Vincent Price’s in The Tomb of Ligeia.

I’ve always liked Elvira, but what seals the deal is that three of the best (and most sought after) pinball machines ever made are based on her theme. Legend has it that part of her licensing agreements with the manufacturers involved a dozen, twenty, fifty? of the machines themselves which she tucked away new-in-box somewhere. Whatever the case, she does in fact sell one (signed of course) on occasion for 5 figures (even a used, unsigned Elvia - Scared Stiff goes for $7,000).
