This guy is giving impressions of a variety of English accents. I’m not a native English speaker, so I can’t really tell whether he’s any good at it. (He got over 6 million views, though.)
What do you think?
They’re pretty good. Some very minor mistakes (with accents it’s always a little hard to put your finger on exactly what it is, you just know when it’s not 100%) but this was really very good and I think I would believe him if he told me he came from any of those places (except the US accents, I don’t know them well enough).
Most of them are pretty terrible to be honest, well the British ones anyway.
The Australian one isn’t bad except at the start when he says “Yes” more like “Yis” and sounds like a New Zealander.
Sounded to me like he was holding the vowels a little longer than necessary on the standard American accent. Came off sounding vaguely Minnesotan.
I think it’s his entire cadence. He has the vowels mostly right, but the rhythm gives him away.
And I found it hilarious how much his “Southern” sounded like a typical American trying to fake a Southern accent. Seeing as he admits he got the New York accent from movies, I wonder if he didn’t also pick up that accent there.
And, no matter what, he’s better than the 21 accent woman in the related videos.
Wow. All of a sudden, youtube doesn’t work. I get the usual screen, and a black box where the video should be, but nothing plays and there is no play button or sound control.
I’m on a new MacBook Pro. Any thoughts other than re-booting?

I get that occasionally on my Mac – it seems like Flash has crashed. You can either quit Flash from Activity monitor and reload the page, or restart your browser; either should work.
OK. Closed all my windows and restarted Safari. Works fine, but it’s really slow…
Anyway, I listened to the guy and he’s OK, for an amateur. Can’t really comment on the British accents so much, but his NYC accent isn’t very good. His standard American accent is much better. And his Italian accent is terrible. Australian is off, and it’s not just the yes = yis thing. The Chinese and Japanese accents are pretty sub par, but I think his Indian accent is quite good.
He did a lot better than I could!
