The Feud: Classical Music by Ellen Cherry [Game Over]

Probably better than me, if I’m under the wire. My answers to #1 and #6 will keep me out of the top 40.

At least you weren’t the one (and only) who chose Haydn as a composer. Haydn? :smack:

Telemenn where you be Haydn my Chopin LIszt, Beach!

The dog must have taken it. Look in your Schubert.

Am I really the only person who named Don Giovanni as an opera? I always do that, 7-8 good answers and then one clunker that drives my whole score down. I figured a lot of people would name Amadeus as their movie and that would then trigger them to remember Don Giovanni as the opera. At least I didn’t answer with Kill the Wabbit.

Sorry I didn’t get this scored yesterday. I got called into a meeting. Stoopit work. I’ll get it done this morning.

He’s not, actually. IIRC, Delores Reborn only qualifies the first fifty. I’m #50, and Mr. Dice is #53.

Pretty sure my placement is going to reflect my order of posting.

Ouch–took a hit on the opera. 9/10 #1s and I still probably won’t break the top 10

And we have a tie! The winners are labtrash and swampbear! Good job! They both got all top ten answers. Magnifique!

Frankly I’m surprised there weren’t more ties for first. And I can’t believe we had no true conchs!

Thanks for playing everyone! Thank you, Ellen! I’m gonna have to come up with a stumper for Swampy. Hmmm… perhaps indigenous frogs of South America or something obscure like that? He probably minored in that in college.

Crushed like a bug due too blatant discrimination against the greatest violinist in history

What’s a conch?

Dang, how can Beethoven’s 5th be the number one answer, And Beethoven’s 9th, be the #2 answer, and Mozart be the #1 Composer. He did not even get an honorable mention in the symphony question.

I guess I do well in themes in which I have limited knowledge. I was number one in the soccer feud.

pssst… Rebo, Swampy knows all about frog, Frogs live in SWAMPS. Try to make a feud about camels.

Even the original conch wasn’t a unanimous “true conch.”

Should this be in the SDMB Glossary of Terms, or is it too specialized?

I was torn between the 5th and the 9th (both of which are far more famous than any particular symphony that Mozart—or probably anyone else—wrote), but I went with #9 because I seemed to remember it being the most common answer in the recent “what’s your favorite Beethoven symphony?” thread.

I think the popularity of Amadeus (see question #6) had something to do with why Mozart is the first classical composer many people think of.

I’m surprised Tosca didn’t get any votes but mine. It’s been featured in two recent movies: Quantum of Solace and Milk.
