I was disqualified for calling Great Britain and Scotland two separate countries? Well, that doesn’t seem right. Maybe for future feuds you can include a ruling on exactly how you want us to label countries from that island that has the Queen of England on it and the little islands around it (I don’t even know what to call them at this point).

Better yet, let the answer stand, and no disqualification. “Wrong” answers in feuds should just be wrong answers. Maybe the only players that should be disqualified are the ones who don’t follow the formatting rules. ??

A perennial nitpick: she’s the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or “the British queen.” There hasn’t been a “Queen of England,” as such, since the union of the English and Scottish thrones in 1707.

Isn’t she the Queen of England in the same sense she is the Queen of Scotland and the Queen of Canada and the Queen of Jamaica? All of these nations have seperate political systems but share a single monarch.

Meanwhile, I was looking at the answers and thinking, Huh, I didn’t do too bad, but then find my name way down near the bottom. I guess my relative lack of interest in Swedish women really hurt me.

I also find it interesting that almost everyone apparently thought “downhill” for snow skiing, not “cross-country”.

Canada and Jamaica, yes, because those are separate countries that each recognize her as the head of state. But England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales comprise the United Kingdom. It is technically incorrect to refer to her as the “Queen of England.”
