If Japan had succeeded on their front, they would have controlled all the resources of China, Korea and Indochina. In addition, don’t forget that the immense cost in lives a ground war in Japan itself could have kept the Allies from decisively defeating Japan (although the Normandy invasion does prove that the Allies were willing to spend lots of lives to win the war) while they built themselves into an industrial giant still in a state of belligerency. I think the Japanese were very much a force to be reckoned with on the world scene, even without the Nazis.
