You need a PROTON torpedo to destroy the Death Star. Photon torpedoes won’t do a damn thing - the port is fully ray shielded after all.
We saw that the Death Star can be blown up by an x-fighter. For that matter, we saw Alderaan get blown up by the Death Star.
Alderaan wasn’t shooting back. And the design flaw that allowed the Rebel scum, er, Alliance to blow up DS1 was fixed for future models.
And that design flaw wasn’t relevant for the Enterprise, anyway. You need a ship that’s small enough to get through the shields to even reach that exhaust port.
I still say Death Stars are overrated. The Enterprise survived for years under field conditions including numerous battles. The Death Stars both were destroyed the first time they were attacked.
While Enterprises have long and sucessful careers, no Death Star has ever survived a major engagement. What more needs to be said?

Well, obviously you have to factor in crew quality. A space station is only as good as the people manning it.
The DS main weapon only points one direction. It would be easy to avoid. The enterprises scanners would see that.
The DS other weapons are lasers. No problem for the Enterprises Shields.
The Enterprise has transporters. Beam aboard and, destroy the main computer and the DS dies.
Enterprise has gone up against planet killers and won.
Enterprise in an one hour episode. (not even a two parter)
Fah. The only way the Enterprise can stand up against the DS and its swarm of 7k TIE fighters is to launch Genesis device after Genesis device… and even then, that might not matter.
It’s like in Star Wars - why wait to destroy the moon? Why not destroy the planet the moon is orbiting, thereby destroying the moon? Same thing: Why wait to shoot at the Enterprise when you can shoot at a planet and put the Enterprise into immediate “OMG, we’re fucked!” mode?
Also, people forget: The Death Star had shields too!
