DR, the Monitor vs. the Merrimack and the Virginia versus the Monitor are the same battle. The Virginia was constructed from the remains of the scuttled USS Merrimack and was therefore referred to by both names.

The QE2 was not named after Queen Elizabeth II, but rather after her mother, Queen Elizabeth. This is shown by the name Queen Elizabeth 2 (2nd ship to be named after QE) rather than Queen Elizabeth II, as it would be named if after QEII herself.

It was QEII herself who started the confusion: when she christened this ship named after her mother, she said “I name this ship Queen Elizabeth the Second.”
