Rebo, what are you going to do with the various Gulf War answers?

There have been three recent wars that have been called a Gulf War. The one most commonly named that was the Iraqi Invasion of Kuwait in 1990. But some people call the war between Iran and Iraq (1980-1988) a Gulf War. And some people call the invasion of Iraq in 2003 a Gulf War.

So if somebody answers Gulf War I are they talking about the Iran-Iraq War or the Iraq-Kuwait War?

Or maybe they mean the war between Britain and Iraq in 1941.

I’ve only heard the phrase “The Gulf War” refer to the war over Kuwait. The other wars are generally called “The Iran-Iraq War” and “The Iraq War,” IME. If I were Rebo I would just assume “Gulf War” meant the 1990 Kuwait war.

Wow, #32 in my own Feud. 13 answers for Gaddafi makes me happy. (Incidentally, my preferred spelling would be either Gaddafi or Qaddhafi; the first is closest to how it’s pronounced, the second is closest to the actual Arabic spelling).

These are actually 2 different wars. The Gulf War/Desert Storm is the war between Iraq and a coalition that didn’t, so far as I know, include Iran, that occurred in the early 90s.

The Iran-Iraq War was the war between Iran and Iraq that ran from 1980 to 1988. None of the coalition members from the Gulf War were officially involved.
