The First of the Few, known as Spitfire in the U.S., is a great docudrama/propaganda film about the development of the Vickers Supermarine Spitfire. I can’t remember the first time I saw it, it was so long ago. Sometime back in the days when local stations showed old movies instead of infomercials. I got a VHS tape of it and enjoyed the film – but hated the audio. Audio quality was very poor. So about half a decade ago I found a DVD version on amazon.com and bought it. Turns out it’s no better than the VHS, although more convenient to watch. Today I looked on amazon.com UK since I have a PAL-capable DVD player. The comments on their page make it sound like the audio quality is the same as on the U.S. version.
Why has no one remastered this fine film?
