this is a whole 'nother can of worms, but my beverage of choice is TaB. unfortunately, i can’t get it here anymore, so i have to substitute coke zero or diet coke. and yes, they still make TaB. everytime i went somewhere with my ever present TaB can, people would ask that very question.
Lou: You gonna order something, kid?
Marty McFly: Ah, yeah… Give me - Give me a Tab.
Lou: Tab? I can’t give you a tab unless you order something.
Marty McFly: All right, give me a Pepsi Free.
Lou: You want a Pepsi, PAL, you’re gonna pay for it.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
dnr
With this one being two versions, that makes 15.
(Shame they don’t make C2, Caffeine-Free Cherry, Diet Caffeine-Free Cherry, with Lemon, or Diet with Lemon any more… that’d make an even 20 variants of Coca-Cola.)
I still think Pepsi takes the cake over the years for whoring out its name.
Currently:
- Pepsi
- Diet Pepsi
- Wild Cherry Pepsi
- Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi
- Vanilla Pepsi
- Diet Vanilla Pepsi
- Pepsi with Lime
- Diet Pepsi with Lime
- Pepsi with Lemon
- Diet Pepsi with Lemon
- Diet Pepsi Max
- Caffeine-Free Pepsi
- Caffeine-Free Diet Pepsi
- Pepsi One
- Diet Pepsi Jazz Caramel
- Diet Pepsi Jazz Strawberry
- Diet Pepsi Jazz Cherry
And then there was Crystal Pepsi, Diet Crystal Pepsi, Pepsi AM, Diet Pepsi AM, Pepsi Kona, Diet Pepsi Kona, Pepsi Tropical, Pepsi Ragin’ Razzberry, Pepsi Blue, Holiday Spice Pepsi, Pepsi Edge…
America is AMAZING for coke varieties. I was so shocked when I went to America on holiday.
Coincendently i bought two bottles of diet coke today. So here’s the selection an English Sainsbury’s had:
-
Coca-cola
-
Diet coke
-
Coke zero
-
Caffine free coke
-
Cherry coke
-
Fanta
-
Tango Zero
-
Sprite
Now you tell me. Reading this thread gave me the impetus to try Coke Zero despite being an incorrigible regular Coke drinker. Thanks, but not thanks.
Sounds like Pepsi ensued.
It’s my understanding that Coca-Cola with sugar is sold around Passover, because the corn syrup in ordinary Coke of today would be forbidden. Look for bottles with yellow tops.
You can get Coke in glass bottles here in pubs but in Scotland they sell it in stores as normal. I love drinking Coke out of a glass bottle.
Any one care to spare a week drawing up a list of Dr. Pepper flavors?
If you’re counting “over the years”, don’t forget to include Crystal Pepsi. Which I actually liked, and I’m annoyed that they discontinued it so fast. Apparently, caramel color itself has a flavor.
Personally, what annoys me is that you can often find regular, diet, and diet-caffeine-free versions of a soft drink, but almost never non-diet caffeine-free. I’ve never yet found an artificial sweetener that doesn’t taste incredibly foul to me, but on the other hand, all else being equal, I’d prefer less caffeine, too.
I tried this. I can’t really do justice to what it tastes like but it tastes like a Coke with a strong coffee flavoring added. I bought it on sale, tried one and threw the rest out. It was unspeakably foul.
What is crystal pepsi?
The bottle of Coke (regular) I have in my hand was manufactured in either Northern Ireland or the Republic Of Ireland. The packaging is unclear. Its ingredients are:
Carbonated Water
Sugar
Colour (Caramel E150d)
Phosphoric Acid
Flavourings (Including Caffeine)
Is this ‘sugar’ the famed cane sugar talked about above?
And for that matter do the ingredients differ much in US (or elsewhere)?
As I alluded to upthread, both coke and pepsi make plain caffeine free drinks. Although not single, pre-chilled bottles. They use a gold color to differentiate from regular versions.
Heh. Perfect post/username combo. From what I remember, Coke Blak tastes like what would happen if you mixed a can of Coke with a can of Starbucks Iced Coffee together. I agree with you. It was positively revolting.
It was a colorless and caffeine free version of Pepsi. Despite being colorless, it had a cola flavor. It was sold in the U.S., Canada, and Australia in the early 90’s.
Here’s one of their commercials which featured the song “Right Now” by Van Halen.
If we were to add in Coke-owned sodas of all sorts, I think we’d never finish.
Is there only one flavor of Fanta over there, or were you (wisely) not going to try to remember every version? And what’s Tango like?
All the Coke in the world, and you can’t find one on the Vegas strip to save your life. What’s up with that, anyway?
And I can’t find 6-packs of cans in the grocery store anymore, either. What’s going on there?
