Cola Wars - Coke or Pepsi (USA Only)

OK, so what’s your poison? No nitpicks here so no subcategories with diet, lite, zero or any other variations. Also no brand products associate with the two companies (Mr. Pibb, Mtn Dew, Sprite, etc.)

Only two menu choices: Coke or Pepsi.

I’m going to violate the OP right away since I’m in Canada but I feel that strongly about this.

Coke baby. Diet now, but Coke for life.

Coke, never Pepsi.

(Why no RC Cola choice? I prefer Coke, but RC is OK.)

I don’t drink soda anymore, but when I did I used to enjoy Pepsi. Coke tastes like acid.

I have never been able to stand Pepsi, preferring to go without any cola if Pepsi was the only available choice, but about a year ago, someone insisted that I HAD TO TRY a “new” version of Pepsi, made with cane sugar, not HFCS. (it’s called Pepsi Throwback).

Even though I was mentally prepared to hate it, I tried it anyway, and it was one of the best tasting soft-drinks I have ever tried. Hard to describe, but it had a real bite or sting to it, very crisp and almost kind of painful to drink, with a hyper-carbonation not found in other colas. It mixed perfectly with rum or bourbon.

I ended up getting a few 12 packs for myself and went thru them in no time, but apparently it was a promotional thing, as I haven’t seen it for sale again anywhere for several months.

(I still can’t abide “regular” Pepsi.)

Just like it should. Coke all the way.

Love Coke, hate Pepsi.

Yes. Ascorbic acid. Any cola that leaves it out is only fit for colour-blind hummingbirds.

Which is why I like Coke.

Coke.

When I first met my husband, I knew it was a match made in Heaven, because he’s a Coke drinker, too. If we go to a restaurant and there is only Pepsi, Hubster will drink iced tea.

To me, Coke has a “spicier” taste than Pepsi. I detect a hint of cinnamon in Coke.

It was initially a promotional thing. After three runs and high demand Pepsi said they would make Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback on a regular basis until people stopped buying it. Apparently they haven’t stopped yet, because I can get as much of it as I want (and I do) at a bunch of places around here.

I agree it’s better than regular Pepsi, but I also think that regular Pepsi is better than Coke and I always have. I wonder how this breaks down regionally. The south truly is the Solid South when it comes to Coke, but how about the rest? If it matters I’m in Pennsylvania.

My soda pop of choice is Dr Pepper; I drink the stuff all the time. Between Coke and Pepsi though, it’s Pepsi, especially Throwback.

It’s available now as a ‘regular’ product, packaged in the ‘old fashioned’ red, white, and blue cans we grew up with. I saw it at the grocery store here last night.

Thank you both; I am going shopping tomorrow, and I will be sure to keep an eye out for it, as I haven’t looked lately…

coke. i’ll happily drink pepsi if that’s what’s available, as i don’t dislike it, but i prefer coke.

i think the best coke i ever had was in some hole in the wall restaurant in cozumel. i ordered a coke with our lunch, and it came served in a glass bottle with a straw. so good.

Pepsi is too fizzy and not sweet enough. Coke, please.

Between the 2, I go with Coke. OR better yet, if we’re in the right places, they ask what we want, we say coke, they say what kind, and we say DR. PEPPER.

Not to hijack, but have you tried “Dublin Dr. Pepper”? Cane sugar, quite a different taste from regular. Grew up in that area, always gather some when we’re back there.

May I ask, why did you specify USA only? A little exclusionary, non?

I would answer. But I’m not allowed.

Pepsi is sublime and perfect for all-day pop sipping and consumption.

Besides, Coke is just too Cokey, and Pepsi is more Pepsier, need I say more?

Between the two, Coke all the way. Especially if it’s the coke they have in the Mexican/ethnic isles of grocery stores around here. That has cane sugar in it instead of hfcs, and tastes so much better.
