Both of these ladies are considered the Antichrist by my Mom. Not for their music but for everything else. Personally, they are the Antichrist for taking mediocre singing and stretching it into a huge decades old career.

Well, I love Madonna and all her scandalousness; I think there’s more to performance than amazing singing, and she delivered. But neither of these people are as controversial as they used to be–in fact, they’re downright quaint by today’s standards.
As far as that, I remember when MTV first came on the air (and showed music videos). A lot of people thought it would Corrupt Our Youth. My local news had a segment discussing whether or not you should subscribe (it didn’t automatically come with the cable package) and what age your kids should be before you allowed them to watch.
And that was in the early '80s, when a lot of what they showed was old concert footage because there weren’t enough current artist videos to fill 24 hours of programming. In 1990, Warrant released their Cherry Pie video, and you’d think it showed triple penetration and a goat, the way people’s heads exploded.
