The Flying Morons - another plane delayed by a fucking idiot

I’ve nothing to add to any of this, I just wanted to say that I initially misread this thread as “The Flying Mormons”, which I think we can all agree would make for a delightfully whimsical band name.

Okay, carry on.

I’d LOVE to hear her side of the story if it’s any different from the lame-ass story that got the professor hauled off that plane for two hours…but she’s refusing to give it, so we are going forward with all AVAILABLE information, whether you like it or not, hacky sack.

And her choice revealed her to be a fucking moron.

And your defense of her here reveals you to be a fucking moron.

And it’s our choice to call you both … Fucking morons.

You’ve got to give her credit, though-of the two, at least she knew enough to keep quiet and lay low afterwards.

[threadshit]

Aw shit, this whole thread is mostly barking up the wrong cesspool.

Yeah, that female passenger, from all available evidence, is a serious moron. But we’re all way too focused on her moronness here. Okay, so she saw some higher math and had a panic attack. Okay, stupid enough.

The real monstrosity here, only sporadically commented upon in this thread, is that it took the “authorities” two hours to figure this out.

Why in the hell didn’t they just take a glance at the professor’s math, and maybe ask a few quick question and check his ID, and be done with it in 15 minutes or less?

Why do we hear so many horror stories of the security people – TSA especially – interrogating someone for 2 to 8 hours, so often over something trivial that should have been cleared up in 15 minutes or less?

It’s those interrogators that don’t know when to stop interrogating that are the real morons in these stories. They are really the ones that caused this flight to be delayed for two hours. Why do they give some no-name stupid idiot passenger such credibility and power as to delay a flight for two hours for something so trivial? Blame the interrogators.

And why is anyone here wasting the electrons it takes to respond to doorhinge, who clearly has his mind firmly wedged in a very stupid place?

[/threadshit]

Hahahaha. I have not condemned him but you have no way of knowing that. Keep up the good work.

Actually that name would better fit a troupe of circus acrobats.

(underline added)

Which proves that you chose not to need all of the facts before you attempt to bully someone. Why am I not shocked? That seems to be SOP for some people on the internet.

Actually, it’s not clear that it did take two hours to figure out that the guy wasn’t a threat. What the stories say is that the plane was delayed by two hours.

The problem is that, when the Vigilant Citizen decided to make her move, the plane had already left the gate and was taxiing to the runway. It had to be turned around and brought back to the gate so that she could be let off, and so that the airline personnel could then investigate her claim.

When something like this happens, the plane can’t necessarily just pull out from the gate and head off for the runway again as soon as the issue is cleared up. This was at Philadelphia, which is a busy international airport. One the plane missed its allotted takeoff slot, it would have had to request a new slot, and the folks who control the ground traffic and the takeoffs would have needed to find a place in the takeoff line while respecting the schedules of all the other planes.

None of this is necessarily very hard, especially if the weather is good and there are no system-wide delays, but nor is it instantaneous; it can take a bit of time.

Why, I’ve heard that one tactic of terrorist groups is to flood the system with this sort of bogus report! The woman is probably co-ordinating her next move with her ISIS masters as we speak!!

Egads! Then we have to react! The TSA must ignore all reports so that ISIS doesn’t win!

Is it your contention that if there are two sides to a story, and one side is so embarrassingly stupid that the person refuses to come forth to talk about it, we should never hear the story at all, hacky sack?
Remember-we already have her original story-the one she told the officials about bad man doing the evil hocus pocus using them number thingies. If she’s got nothing more to add, then that IS her story, as far as I’m concerned.

Someone should probably investigate friend doorhinge as well.

NObody could be that stupid. It’s got to be an act to throw us all off our guards.

No, that’s not my contention. Guess again.

There is a report that a woman reported suspicious activity by a fellow passenger. Is that what you consider to be her original story? The man claimed he was mostly questioned about his mathematical writing. Was that in response to the woman’s original communication with the aircrew, or was that in response to a TSA agent’s normal follow-up questions to someone claiming to be a math professor?

As far as you’re concerned, you don’t need a woman’s side of the story. You’ve already made up your mind.

From here.

So the airline is keeping her story a secret.

What a surprise - doorhinge comes out in support of the moronic majority.

Well, if she isn’t going to talk about it, would you have it that no one talks about it?

We are talking about it. I’m not suggest that you stop talking about it.

Doorhinge, you are not learning the true story because it never happened. In fact, nothing has ever happened. What you perceive to be the world is just a figment of you imagination.

Hush, now. Obviously doorhinge is not in on it.
