Yupper, I’m with CK Dexter Haven. I grew up in Nebraska. I confess that we town kids sometimes made fun of the farm kids, but generally speaking we would all be sensitive about the idea that people from small towns or the midwest or what have you are “hicks,” not to mention the idea that we might all sleep with our siblings. So I could see why it rankles.
I have been quite amused in retrospect that we would dare make fun of the “goatropers” (as we called them) because the farm kids were worlds more experienced than we town kids were. Most of them learned to drive a car earlier, knew how to fix things, understood animal husbandry, worked hard, and mixed a mean vat of anhydrous ammonia.
