Dude, she’s someone’s mom! How can someone’s mom be hot?
Ha ha! I kid! If I had it to do all over again, I’d work harder to entice
Ellen into the back seat so we could have stolen her. That’s my one regret in an otherwise regret-free life.

How is that possible? I thought everyone in the world (or at least everyone in the SDMB world) knew that the old one is abandoned on Monday mornings. Do we need to have a Lynn or Tuba post a sticky on this one?
I am trying to get my desk cleared before Friday, both figuratively and literally. I’m going up to Pittsburgh next week, and I’ve got to have things ready for Roundboy to be able to find stuff I’ve got going on without too much trouble. (See, his attention span isn’t all it should be at times. If I don’t get all the finely placed ‘clutter’ straightened up, he’ll just get frustrated 30 seconds into looking for a Sales Order (we have to capitalize that phrase. It’s in our ISO directives), start to cry, wander away, and still not have what he needed in the first place.) We accommodate him as best we can, but sometimes it’s just a big hassle, ya know?
So that means I’ll be MMP-less next week. I’m sure it won’t be too much of an inconvience to anyone.
Speaking of kilts, Garrison Keillor had a nice bit in one of his works about a girl he had a serious crush on in high school, that, paraphrased, went something like this:
“She wore a plaid skirt which was such a source of erotic conjecture to me that, to this day, I hesitate to go to Scotland.”
Cute dress. Making garb-stuff out of existing clothes is so much less frustrating than doing it from scratch.
Tired. Today is my Day Off. Laundry and dishes and dance class. My class card runs out tonight so I’m off to Intermediate 1 and 2 in a blaze of glory.
Bah, she’s a MILF*!!
*Mother I’d Like to Free up for an evening, so that we could take in a show and maybe discuss topical subjects and even personal philosophy.
OK I am not Scottish but I do live (well lived until they made me move to Wyoming) and my parents still do live about 2 hours from the Scottish border. I have attended many weddings that involved me in kilts.
Other than that not much doing. I had to make a ‘recruiting’ trip to Tulsa last week for work. Unfortunately no-one wanted to relocate to the delights of Wyoming from the South East. Most of them chose Texas or Louisiana can’t imagine why…
I also got asked why I was putting on coveralls, hard hat and steel toes when I was a girl. That guy didn’t make it far.

Darn it! I thought Swampy was out next week. Of course I’m also the person who tried to fit an extra week between thanksgiving and christmas this year. I’m calendar-challenged. Ah well, we can still discuss Seattle and how cool it would be to go through the underground parts not on the tour. I would wear a fedora and leather jacket and carry a whip and find all sorts of well, probably moldy piles of poo when you consider the plumbing problems.
Why do I want a fancy type ren-faire looking dress? I’ve only ever been once and I don’t do any of that stuff so the dress would just hang in my closet, but I still want one. The same sort of compulsion that made me mark on the walls when I was six. Please tell me I’m not alone. LOW, is she gonna wear the cute little hat too? Because the hat just puts her over the top of the cutie quotient.
Tonight I’m making orange peel beef, which is scary because the recipe doesn’t say whether I was supposed to take the pith off the peels and I didn’t, which could be bad and nasty or they meant some sort of Asian style orange peels and I’m a total idjit for not knowing. So I may be over at **Wile E’s ** begging for pseudo gumbo. Not finding blocks was good news for your mom, right?
Oh! OH! I almost forgot the most importantest part! I have a new vacuum cleaner! It came in the mail yesterday and I went into a cleaning frenzy. It was so good at sucking up fur that pets that haven’t been *born * yet are being sucked bald. So Lissla, if you’re still looking for a good machine, this one is pretty good so far.
[channeling **swampy]<snerk> in bed! <snerk>*[/channeling *swampy]
Goodness, that felt, um, bizarre…
Well, somebody had to do it. Good job, FCM! Gotta keep the MMP alive, even when swampy’s gone. It’s just not the same, but we have to keep going, somehow.
LifeOnWry, that dress is just spiffy! I’ll keep that in mind if I need an Irish-style dress.
OK, people, it’s TUESDAY! It’s even late in the day. We should be closing in on page 3 by now at least!!! And where are we? Struggling to get to page 2. Get busy and post something. (I was so relieved to read the <snerk> above - I was afraid it would be missing…)
We have lovely weather today, so I’m about to go outside and mow and plant containers and such. Back later…

I didn’t have anything real interesting to post. Lessee, I went to work, I’m still at work, once again I was left out of the loop for a large tasker until the last minutie  :dubious: , I’m tired and I wanna go home. See that wasn’t interesting, just whiney.
The weather promises to be beautiful this coming Sunday; sure the day after **Swampy ** leaves.
When I got to work today my office mate had a birthday card waiting for me on my desk. I thought that was really nice. My b-day isn’t until Thursday, but she wanted to make sure I got it.
That’s all I’ve got…
I’m sick as a dog, and I went home early today. I don’t feel like doing much of anything, and apparently that includes posting. Bleh.
I’ll wave to you all and reassure you that I still love you all to bits. But that’s about all I’ve got the energy for.
I’m off work tomorrow. My mom is coming to my house and we’re going to talk about what I need to do in my yard. And maybe we’ll plant some stuff. We are going to dig up some stuff that she’s taking home with her.
I got some tomato and cucumber plants - the ones I started from seed all died. Stoopit veggies. But I’ll plant the new ones before my mom gets here. And I got some marigolds because I like them and because I know Rue likes them, so part of my garden will be dedicated to my favorite MMP-starter. And I got an African violet to go in one of the pots I threw. And I got composted manure and some mulch.
I’m gonna be singing the Green Acres theme all day tomorrow… or not.
Well I took a turn around the SDMB and now I’m back here where I’m not apparently on anybodys ignore list. Am I? I ask 'cause I posted an answer/opinion in another thread and then 2 other posters came in and said pretty much the same things, like I hadn’t even posted.
I think I’ll just stay here where I belong.
I’ll be over here in this corner, sipping my beer.
Feel better soon, scout. Have some chicken noodle soup and tea and biscuits. And lie down.
I just tried to post to my blog about dance class, and the internet ate my post. So now I’ve got to try and remember what I said. Oh, yes. It was a detailed list of everything we did today. Good classes. My classcard has now run out (you buy six, twelve, or 24 classes to be finished within a certain period of time.) and so everyone should feel free to contribute to the Keep Lissla Lissar Dancing Fund. Small unmarked bills, please.
Stupid blog. It won’t let you copy so you can’t save unless you write in Word first. Stupid program.
Well, I don’t have anything really fascinating to post, but…I planted about five containers that go on and next to the front stoop. I got a fun new tall coppery container on Sunday, so it’s been added to the mix. At least my front stoop looks rather cheerful now. I also mowed and trimmed the edges of the front lawn and got rid of all the stoooopit suckers under the crabapple trees. (They’re really the only things I don’t like about crabapples - you always have to trim around the bottom…).
Started to pull out containers for the back stoop. Maybe I’ll plant them tomorrow and do the back lawn. This is my stress reduction program, since work is extra-stressful at the moment.
Lessee…Happy Birthday in advance, Taters. Nice of your co-worker to give you a card…
Feel better soon scout. (Do we need to disinfect around here again so it doesn’t spread?)
FCM, happy planting! I always buy veggie plants; I’ve been spectacularly unsuccessful at starting plants from seeds. I also have lots of marigolds to plant. Am I also allowed to dedicate a portion of my garden to our favorite MMP-starter or is that an exclusive privilege? I wanted to have everything planted last week, but the weather turned, so maybe this week. And even if you don’t spend tomorrow singing the Green Acres theme, I probably will, because just reading about it made me start humming…
Hi Bumba! I’m sure you’re not on any ignore lists here, what with you and the Mrs. being official participants in swampfest 2005 and all. Which reminded me, I need to get over to my e-mail and send you my order. Somehow I keep not getting there…(Did I mention life is stressful lately…?)
**Lissla, ** I’m pretty sure that the internet was trying to tell you to post the details about classes here rather than in your blog. So, has the scary fashion guy shown up lately? Other dance fashion news?
I’m pretty tuckered out and off to bed…

I would guess that you don’t want any pith because the pith is bitter. But that sounds like a pith poor recipe if they don’t explain it very well.
Yes, no blockages is good. She’s still in the hospital though but they may let her go tomorrow.
That happens to me all the time. Then people come in and quote and respond to the people who posted the same thing after me like they were the first and only to mention it. It’s not easy being invisible.
Or green.
I’m sorry. I can’t help myself.
It is comforting, to me at least but probably not to you, to know that I’m not the only one who’s had this experience. We should probably do something not-nice to those people, like ignore them, or something.
If anyone cares, we get a new VunderLair this weekend, and in a moment of either sheer genius, or raving insanity, I hired the senior youth group from my church to help with the move. They’re raising money to go to a youth convention in Texas this summer, andI’m ponying up $300 for their services.
Last night was Packing Night. We expected 2 or 3 girls, and got 3 girls, one guy, and 4 parents. VunderShit was packed that we didn’t know we had. Living until Saturday will be novel, too. No food; few clothes save for the dirties; 2 terrified cats freaking from all the people, etc. What we thought would be a 2 evening event got done in roughly 2 -1/2 hours.
If we get a similar turnout Saturday, we’ll be eating pizza by noon.
