The Forecast Called For Rain

Happy Birthday, Ashes!
I agree that the best birthday month is May.

I know the feeling - I have a blog that I just started recently, of recipes that I cook. It’s in my sig on another board that I post to, so the address is out there. I’ve only been doing it for a month or so - so it shocks me that I get any comments at all on it!

And happy birdie-day Ashes, Ashes ! Ya know there are pairs of MMP’s I always get mixed up because of their handles - Lissla Lissar & Ashes, Ashes are one, because on first glance Lissla’s handle looks like a double, and Ashes,Ashes is a double. Same with Taters and Tupug - on first glance they look the same.

Susan

Thanks! And thanks, **MagicEyes **for the good wishes. I’m suddenly all nervous. NOW I remember why I don’t do blind dates. We’re meeting at 1. Just over 3 hours! It’s really hard not to hyperventilate right now. I just want this to go well! We seem to have so much in common - similar backgrounds, similar goals, compatible interests, matching senses of humor - that I really think things could work out… if we have as much fun in person as we do online. And if I can breath normally for the next 3 hours. It really would be bad to pass out and be late for lunch!

I don’t think I’ll be posting any updates until Monday though. I hope to be too busy to get online.

Oh, and on a separate subject, I finally got a letter from the place I interviewed with about a month ago telling me they hired someone else. I might be disappointed, but I’m just way too excited about other stuff to really be thinking about the job right now. I guess eventually I’ll have to think about starting a job search; can’t stay in this job forever, but for now it’s good enough.

Happy birthday Ashes!!
I forgot how to do the squared thing again. :smack:

Happy Birthday, Ashes, Ashes!

I’m off to St. Louis this afternoon - see y’all on Monday! Have a great weekend!

First, as the self-proclaimed resident horse expert, I have to mention that ponies (or horses for that matter) can’t belly dance. They can do a lot* of things, but belly dancing isn’t one of them. I have seen Arabian horses dressed up like harem girls, but they didn’t do much besides look embarrassed.

*Like get into or out of places you don’t want them. Or figure out the precise moment you’re distracted and dump your butt to the ground. Even better if they can dump you on the ground and “accidentally” step on your foot. Or just how cute they have to look to lure you over with a treat so they can bite you when you run out. (And I like horses!)

Second, I have all my teeth and I plan to keep them. Although the upper left wisdom tooth is acting up, and I’m afraid they are going to want to take it out. On the other hand, if they took out my wisdom teeth, all the other teeth would probably straighten up a little. (You know, show them what happens if they misbehave. Put the fear of Og in them. ) They’re not super crooked; I don’t need braces, but they could be straighter.

Thirdly, I don’t garden, so I’ve got nothing to add to that. I’m lucky I remember to water my house plants. Actually, I don’t even do that - I’ve ceded care of them over to my sister, who inherited my mother’s green thumb and who thinks I abuse my plants terribly, because I let my cat eat them. I don’t, if I catch him, but when I’m not home it’s a salad bar, as far as he’s concerned.

Fourth, a quick shout-out to all the Taureans in the house! Throw your hands in the air and say, Hey! Ho! Hey! Ho! We gonna party like it’s your birthday!

Fifth, I can’t believe that no one made any cracks about the medicinal properties of Rue. Come on, people, the jokes practically write themselves: Not to be taken internally…? Use under a doctor’s supervision…? There’s so many ways you could run with this.

I had a migraine last night, so I took four Excedrin and a Coke and went to bed… (Yes, under those circumstances, I can sleep despite all the caffiene. When I’m sick, all I want to do is sleep; I have to fight to stay awake.) I don’t have a headache this morning, although I feel one threatening; I just feel a little hung over. Yech. Also, it’s a rainy Friday, and I don’t want to be at work. I want to be tucked up in my bed with my kitty and drowse the day away. But I don’t want to take a day off; Memorial Day is coming up, and http://store.yahoo.com/wizarduniverse/wizworeas20.html]Wizard World is coming to Philadelphia in early June and I want to take a day off to go to that. TokyoPop always has a big booth there, and hands out free manga previews. (If anyone wants one, just let me know: r_d_winter@yahoo.com)

No plans for this weekend besides taking it easy and doing some cleaning. The kitchen and my bathroom need some attention. Everyone else’s bathroom is their problem. I also need to do some grocery shopping, but am so not in the mood to deal.

Yay! It’s Ashes[sup]2[/sup] birthday! Happy day!

Susan, I’m gonna track down that food blog o’ yours. I haven’t thought much about cooking lately, but I’m trying to rekindle the desire. Plus I know that other board you’re referring to. :stuck_out_tongue:

My username is from one of my favourite books- Deerskin, by Robin McKinley. Lissla Lissar or just Lissar has been my alias as long as I’ve been on the internet. It does look like a double. If I weren’t Lissla I’d probably be Harimad-sol (let’s see if she does vanity searches!) or Aerin-sol or something. More McKinley.

Happy weekend! I’m trying to get in touch with my parents about grocery shopping. Driving Husband doesn’t have a car today. And Quasi-Daughter is going to descend and demand food.

Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday!

You like me! You really, really like me! So many happy birthdays makes me not hate getting older just a little bit less. This is where I should make a naughty joke about my birthday spanking but I thought about how that many swats would have to be considered attempted murder.

Y’know taters, you can combine your desserts, like I made cheesecake last night and then put made some lemon pie filling to put on top and then sprinkled with raspberries. You could do the same with key lime on cheesecake, yummm! Or a margarita with extra lime, that wouldn’t hurt either I’m thinkin’.

Yay! It’s friday!

‘put made’? And I haven’t even started the weekend yet.

As it turns out last night I did not have Key Lime Pie or cheesecake for dessert. The hubby took me to an Italian restaurant last night so I had tiramisu for dessert. It was a huge piece so I made sure everybody shared it with me.

My husband had some friends meet us at the restaurant to help celebrate my birthday and it was all very nice. One of our friends asked me if it was rude to ask how old I was. I told him that it wasn’t rude at all. I told him, “I’m 41, and damn proud of it.” I like myself better as I get older and have learned to appreciate even more all the little things that life has to offer.

I’m going to have to find a good recipe for Key Lime pie and try to make it sometime, I think.

Happy birthday to all the May babies out there!

Happiest of Birthdays to all the May babies, to include the many in our family, to include *all three * of my sister’s children, to include her latest, born on Friday the 13th, and cute as a button.

My sister’s explanation? “Labor Day is well named.”

Just got finished ironing my shirt for tomorrow (wanna look nice, ya know) and the bread isn’t ready to go in the oven (special bread you only get if you camp over), but I had to say:

Happy birthdayAshes[sup]2[/sup]!
Remember Winnie, never drive or operate heavy machinery under the influence of Rue.

Happy Victoria Day Weekend, everyone!

:crickets:
You barbarians don’t celebrate Victoria Day? Shame on you! It’s great! There’s fireworks, and it always rains. Fireworks on Monday. You can tell this isn’t a fireworks day because it’s sunny.

The Usual Suspects are probably going to see Hitchhiker’s tonight. I want to see Kingdom of Heaven, too, but we’re not seeing it tonight. That reminds me, the pic of Orlando Bloom in the People Magazine’s Top fifty beautiful people or whatever again looked startlingly like Mr. Lissar. No, I lie- Mr. Lissar is better looking. But there’s a definite resemblance.

My parents are Missing In Action. I think their phone is off the hook and they haven’t noticed.

I wish we got Victoria Day off. I’m always up for another holiday, believe me.

I think we need to see Hitchhikers this weekend - maybe Sunday night. I figure everyone will be distracted by Star Wars, so we should have no trouble getting tickets. BSMF saw Kingdom of Heaven over the weekend (I didn’t, it was his boy time) and he thought it was all right. But he might have gotten his hopes up real high.

Sorry I’ve taken so long to get back to you this week. They are actually making me work. Imagine…

Let me know what you think about the band. They are a lot of fun.

And that dress is so cool and clever. I shall have a Guiness and say “Brilliant!” in your honor.

Just popped in to say I don’t have time to post because I’m gonna bake some oatmeal cookies for my sweetie. Later, y’all!

Hey…wait a minute…you can’t do that! You dashed in here to tell us you’re baking and that’s it? Where are our cookies, hmmmmm?

Happy birthday to all the other May babies out there.

The oatmeal cookies are yummerrific! But if you want some, you better get here pronto! My sweetie loves him some oatmeal cookies!
