The Froofy Thread

I just flew in and out of NYC. Flights are fine. Security is way beefed up, of course, but everyone is pleasant and unworried about delays.

I went to a NYCDopeFest. I was mostly quiet (I kept my boys within arms reach. I felt needy the whole time I was there), but I liked everyone a lot. Uke Ike rules.

I miss Maeg and Nen, but I’ll see Nen again in…seven hours, and both of them again at Thanksgiving, good gods willing.

I’m looking forward to ChiDope.

Hey China Guy, she’s adorable. I’ve been getting a lot of baby pictures lately; seems like quite a few of my friends didn’t have much to do right after Christmas.

After reading the paper and watching the news it’s a nice change to look at smiling baby faces for awhile.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

I watched my sweet old cat hunting a fly today. It was fun to watch. He’s 15 and it’s nice to see him acting like a kitten again. I give him catnip on a regular basis, just to see his reaction. I was thrilled when his new vet guessed him as an 8 or 9 year old because he was in such good shape still. I dread the day that I’m without him.

I’m getting a puppy, possibly this weekend. I’m absolutely thrilled about it, but I’m feeling guilty that the cat might freak out. I’m hoping that they’ll be buddies eventually.

I spend entirely too much time at home with my pets. Obviously. God help me, I love it.

When someone calls me “wierd” I take it as a compliment. Is that wierd? And why does “wierd” always look like it’s spelled wrong?

I’m the only punctual person I know. I pretend that it doesn’t irritate me, but it really does.

I have a dog collar, and I wear it out in public.

I’m on this message board every day since I registered. Look at my post count. I wish I could lurk less and post more.

ChinaGuy, she’s beautiful.

Err, because it is spelled wrong. It’s “weird”. But you know, that’s one of those words that looks wrong no matter how you spell it. I have the same problem with “separate”.

Since this seems more like a bored-at-work thread, I think it’s warranted…
“sweat” looks funny too.
Something smells like Chinese food in here. I can’t figure out what it is. I hope it’s not me…(honest! I took a shower this morning! I swear!)

Heh…thanks, LifeonWry. That’s one of the words I habitually spell wrong. I guess everbody has a few of those though!

Thanks for the suggestion. So, if you’re so close, why haven’t you come to any of the BAD stuff, hmmm?

I loved the ChinaBambina photos, so thanks!

Hardygrrl, I am concerned about your new cubiclemate’s reaction to heaving nipples.

Here are some cute photos of Cranky Jr. Bonus dog inclusion for the canine lovers out there.

Um…I have been really busy…but I am planning on getting my butt to one of them soon

Cranky That kid is SO cute. I used to baby-sit for a little boy wo looked remarkably like that, though not as cute, of course.

Well, today I was walking to class, and I just randomly tripped on the sidewalk and fell down. A little embarrassing, but I have done worse. One time, when I was in a play in high school, I tripped and went flying across the stage. The best part was that I didn’t even think that anyone would notice until after I came off the stage and the whole stage crew came running towards me asking if I was alright. I guess that it was pretty obvious. blush

Right now I should be writting a speech for my speech class. I think that it is so stupid that I have to take this class. I know that it is important to be able to speak in public, but I took speech in High School, and I took an acting class in college already. Why do I still have to take speech to transfer?

I have a biology test on Wednesday that I need to study for, but I probably won’t have much time because I have to write this stupid speech for Tuesday. I guess that I will be up all night on Tuesday studying. Please let me be strong enough to resist the temptation on SDMB and actually study…

The aforementioned fishby has died. I returned from French this morning to discover him belly-up in his pretty little bowl. I suspect he drowned.

I, too, should be working on a speech for class. I don’t really know what to write about, though. It has to be an “informative speech.” I might talk about how they make crayons or something silly like that, or debunk a popular urban legend with the help of snopes and Cecil, or something. Hmm… a five-minute speech on circus peanuts…

I coaxed a butterfly to land on the back of my hand the other day. 'Twas brillig.

My sister got accepted to Northwestern and is currently finishing up her pre-med classes. Six classes to go and she’s going to be going for her M.D. and Ph.D.! Wow!

Our family counseling is going worlds better than I had ever dreamed. Mom and Dad are finally understanding what makes them tick, and are becoming better parents than I ever would have given them credit for. I’m actually enjoying talking to my parents instead of dreading it.

I’ve got an interview at a new company on Friday! Yay!

We just got done playing paintball the other weekend, had a blast, and are now organizing another trip for November! (Mild hijack – would any Midwest/Chicago Dopers ever want to play paintball?)

We just booted two of the obnoxious folks from our D&D group, and the gaming has been great since they’ve been gone!

I’m finding in myself a larger wellspring of tolerance and caring for others since 9/11. I’m glad to know that something positive can come out of such a horrible event.

I’m happy to count in my circle of friends a lot of great people, both IRL and online (hi, celestina!), and am looking forward to making more friendships with Dopers.

And just had a great cup of minestrone soup for lunch. That, plus a good cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee, will go perfectly on this cool blustery rainy day. Mmmmmmm…

Cute kid, Cranky.

I bought a pair of fishnet stockings this weekend.

I saw a really boring Vietnamese film called “A Vertical Ray of the Sun.” The cinematography was gorgeous, but nothing really happened. Plus the guy to my right was practically sitting in my seat, and I spent 2 hours squirming away from his elbow and leg.

Boli and I ate too much pizza.

Krunk, paintball. Yes! When and where!? I’ve never done it but it sounds like a blast. Would I need my own equipment or whatever? You plan it and I’ll do my best to be there.

However, don’t hold it the second weekend of November - Midwest Chick Dope is then and I’m just swamped! :stuck_out_tongue:

Bunny

I’ll have to put up an MPSIMS thread and see who-all’d be interested. There’s a fantastic place down in Joliet (Challenge Park) that’s an absolute blast.

I have some really nice, new pants. they are soft and grey and loose on the legs, but fit just right around the hips. And they are LONG ENOUGH! That is in itself a blessing, since nice dress pants never ever ever come long enough and I have to try to let them out.

These pants are making me very happy.

I’ve killed it! sob Just another thread where I am the last post. (There was actually a thread about that, too. It passed away after about an hour.) I really liked this one, too. pout Oh well, farewell, my dear.

It’s OK Arwen, I’ll kill it.

We had a (very rare) lightning storm here last night. It made me completely happy. I sat out on the front steps and got pretty well soaked watching it. It’s one of my favorite forms of entertainment.
