The game (not the "artist", not the movie)

I’ve read the book once and started reading it again from the lack of other books in my appartment right now. I think it’s a fascinating book, albeit very chauvisnistic. I couldn’t believe how easy all this seduction business apparently is. To think that you can have ANY woman on the planet (single or not) using neurolinguistics or certain patterns is a bit much to swallow.

Any chances of hearing your reactions to this book?

Sorry, thought you were talking aboot The Great Game of course. What else is/was there?

Does the author present any evidence to back up his claims?

I first saw a copy of this book when I was sitting on a flight from Washington to Toronto. The guy across the aisle from me was an absolute grade-A middle management dick type - Men’s Wearhouse suit, those really ugly shoes all middle managers wear now with the seam right down the middle, a slightly receded hairline at age 31, the works.

The book, if you have not actually seen one, is hysterically pompous; it’s leather bound, with a silk ribbon for holding your place, like a Bible. The cover title and art are embossed in gold, with the title above silhouettes of women. On the inside, the chapter numbers are displayed in dice. I don’t know why it is that self-described pickup artists love dice, but they do.

I can’t believe a guy would read that in public. You may as well wear a sandwich board that says “I’M NOT GETTING ANY.”

The author claims to have met and learned from pickup experts thrughout the world, hobnobbed with celebrities, the works. It’s all most unlikely.

But it must be said that the book isn’t written as a pickup guide. He writes in detail (some of the time too much detail) telling about his transformation from a shy journalist to a god-amongst-geeks. Obviously it’s hard to prove the validity of his claims (like him seducing britney spears, courtney love and another guy seducing paris hilton), but I think sociologically speaking this is pretty interesting (ie, how these guys have spent majority of their social lives at the bottom of the cesspool and when they learn the “art” of seduction they start treating girls like shit.
As for the cover of the book (which I’m looking at right now), it’s blue with comic book characters on the front. This is of course the paperback version. I’m sure there is a leather bound version out there which I wouldn’t be caught dead with.
