Morning all. By now, I should be at work, but some genius in the “Head of State Visiting Department” decided 9:00am (in the middle of peak hour) would be a good time for George to leave! :rolleyes: I dropped HRH to MIL’s house at 8:20am and headed off for my 10 minute drive to the office, only to run smack bang into the gridlock from hell! Security forces had blocked virtually every exit from the island we live on (where the airport is) to ensure His Assholiness had a clear run to the airport. So I sat in traffic for nearly 40 minutes, going round and round in circles, trying to find the one causeway that was still open for traffic, before I decided, “F*CK THIS!” and came home. I will sit here for another 30 minutes (it’s about 9:30 now) and then re-attempt my commute. To add insult to injury, I also need to collect HRH’s meds again today (every 10 days), meaning an additional 30 minute drive out to the military hospital, which has the only pharmacy in the whole friggin’ country that can make HRH’s anti-convulsant elixir! :mad:
LiLi, sounds like things might finally be afoot! Fingers crossed! The whole tooth thing is a possibility for any pregnant woman, given that TNC has been sucking you dry of calcium!

My sinuses have really been playing up with this cold snap and now my left ear is hurting quite badly. It’s cold! here. It’s only going to be 14 degrees (about 57 'Merkin) in Tel-Aviv today. Supposed to go down below 40 again tonight! Special Teen is off for Jerusalem, where she can expect a high of 8 (46) :eek: today, and -1 (30) at night!

Okay, so I’m still at home. I just called my boss, who told me traffic is f*cked throughout the whole country, thanks to POTUS. He told me (and who I am I to oppose my boss?) to just stay at home and have another cup of tea. He doesn’t need me until about 12:30pm, so I should just extend my weekend and avoid the wretched traffic until whatshisname has left, the country’s traffic lights are no longer under the control of some half-trained (half-brained?) traffic cops and the world is back to normal! So here I sit, enjoying my third cup of coffee for the morning!

No rain here… we are being subjected to what we call “A lying sun.” Sort of a distant relative of “too cold to snow.”
It was actually pretty funny – in today’s print version of the newspaper the graphics guy for the weather page had some fun, and came up with a frowning, blue sun, trapped in an ice cube, as the icon for today’s over-all disposition

Global Warming seems to have resulted in a much cooler summer here in Seattle. We only had a few warm days through all of 2007. Twas odd. I kept expecting summer to start at some point.
(Hence the reason that some recommend the term Global Climate Change over Global Warming, since it won’t manifest itself as warming in select areas, just as a global average.)
Just got back from birthday festivities. Eeeeek, it’s 4 in the morning! I was actually pretty drunk a few hours ago, evident by the fact that I actually sang two songs at karaoke (I usually only sing one at the most, under pressure). But I’m more or less sober now.
And I DO have drama to report (surprise surprise!) but I’m half asleep by this point, so I’ll entertain y’all at a more reasonable hour. Bascially it boils down to That Guy finally confessing that he feels moving in with Victorian Heroine was a mistake, and that our thing, whatever it is, has gone way beyond a mere fling. I was actually startled that he ADMITTED out loud to that fact, since it’s something he’s been in denial about for the longest time.
rigs, I know full well that I’m in no position to be objective about this situation, but if I believed for a second I was just one of many girls he was fooling around with I’d drop him in a heartbeat. The only reason I’m able to keep clinging to this messed-up thing we have is that I really do think there is something genuine behind all of this crap. All of my friends who don’t personally know That Guy think he’s full of shit, but all of our mutual friends believe, despite it all, that he’s not fundamentally a jerk. That’s why everyone was so shocked when they found out about us. Imagine someone you knew during college - someone who was always joking around but beneath it all had principles - and that everyone knew that and respected it. That’s the kind of guy that That Guy is known as, in our circle of friends.
We’re all still rather young (he’s younger than me by two years) and still in the process of trying to figure life out. I just hope we manage to come to some kind of conclusion that we won’t regret down the road.
Anyway, he said he was going to call me tomorrow for a Talk. I’m half-skeptical and half-hopeful - we’ve had Talks before - but he did say things tonight that he’s never put into words before. We’ll see.
Okay, I’m typing all of this with my eyes half closed, so it’s off to bed for me. Night!

On a completely different note… {{{{Haze}}}}
Good morning, all! It’s a brisk, frosty one here - sub-freezing, which is only good because the dogs make short business of tending to their business.
I’ll be in the painting mode today. Not artistical painting or wall painting, but inside of the new bathroom cabinet painting. **FCD ** completed most of the construction on the vanity base that’s going in the soon-to-be-unblued blue bathroom. I want the inner shell painted in a high-gloss white in order to seal it, protect it, and make it as bright as possible without installing a light. Once that dries, we’ll apply 3 or 4 coats of polyeurethane to the exterior (walnut - purchased from a local Amish saw mill) then it’ll be ready to be installed.
Of course, before it’s installed, we have to gut and rehabilitate the bathroom. Everything goes - ugly blue tub, ugly blue toilet, uglier-than-anything vanity with hideous sink top, mismatched ugly wall cabinets, gawd-awful blue wall and floor tiles, and cheezy, out of date blue accessories. It is one disaster of a bathroom. Once it’s gutted, we have a few minor wall repairs to make, then fresh paint on the walls. Next comes a new floor (same flooring as in the master bath), new fixtures, new light, new accessories, new tub/shower door, and a new mirror. Once all that’s done, we can declare the remodeling of the house done. Yay!
I hope we can find someone who wants the blue tub and toilet. While I think they’re ugly, they’d be perfect for someone doing a retro remodel. So off to Freecycle they’ll go.
And for today, just interior cabinet painting, and maybe a little laundry. And emptying the dishwasher and reloading it. And maybe some cooking ahead for the week. For now, I’m caffeinating and reading the Sunday funnies while **FCD ** grabs some extra ZZZZZs. He’ll be doing work work today - nothing like learning new design software on a huge design project with a short deadline. At least here, he doesn’t have coworkers interrupting him.
