Cthulhu would be proud.
Why does the flag only have 24 stars and 9 stripes?
Global warming. Not everything is his fault, you know.
Usage question: The text says terrorists attacked “our Nation.” Why on earth is Nation capitalized (more than once!)? I understand when Stephen Colbert does it because he’s being deliberately pompous to be funny, but surely at least one Republican somwhere with a degree in English, political science, or rhetoric and communications still has room in his or her heart to give the former President’s webmaster a clue?
That’s “real America.” The 22 states who went Republican in 2008, plus they’re giving Indiana and North Carolina a pass for now.
However, only two of the original states (Georgia and South Carolina) voted for the Republican in 2008, so shouldn’t there be two stripes (or three, if you’re giving N.C. a pass)?
That’s the customary style in U.S. government documents now (the Supreme Court in its decisions refers to the Nation, for instance). Looks like the GWBPC is a private foundation and not affiliated (as yet) with the National Archives, which manages most other presidential libraries, though.
The photo of him with the cowboy hat, squinting into the camera, had the same effect on me as fingernails down a chalkboard. Ye gods, I hated the guy.
Many decades back my Grandmom’s family sold their Dallas farm to a young university that wanted to grow. They felt education alone was a noble enough cause for them to move elsewhere. Can’t imagine what they’d think now about a presidential library being in the old cotton field.
Really?! That’s an incredibly cool and interesting piece of backstory. It would’ve been interesting if any terms had been tied to the sale about what it could be used for…
My relatives only got a shopping mall on their farm. And there were several intermediate buyers, so they didn’t even get rich off it. sigh
Both grandparents’ farms are still mostly intact, I think. Parts of my paternal grandfather’s farm (on North Haven Island, ME) may be a golf course. My maternal grandfather’s farm is in very rural North Carolina; there’s no demand for the land.
Does he have any clue how ridiculous he looks in the cowboy hat pic?
I’m curious about this sideline on the site:The Bush-Cheney Alumni. Does another Presidential library highlight the VP as much? Not alarmed, but curious as to why this section is so tandem in focus.
Why not see all the others? http://www.quaylemuseum.org/
They didn’t take my advice (see post 34).
