If ye have as much faith as a single grain of mustard seed, ye shall move mountains, nothing shall be impossible unto you.
And also…
If ye have as much pollen as a large field of mustard plants, ye shall have red eyes and sneeze constantly, normal breathing shall become impossible unto you.
It seems most of central Indiana (the rural parts anyway) is filthy stinking loaded with mustard plants. In fields, along fence lines, pretty much anywhere and everywhere. Does anybody know how much of this is cultivated and how much is just growing for no good reason? I tried to Google it and, although I learned a lot about mustard (I guess India is having a good crop as well, and, as a member of the rapeseed family, it’s oil makes a damn fine bio-diesel.) there was not much information about why there was so much of it this year. My guesses are: The bio-diesel thing, Or it’s always been there and I haven’t noticed it, Or This year’s crop is subsidized by the makers of Claritin and Flonase. (Note to Midwestern farmers: don’t forget to call Schering-Plough and GlaxoSmithKline next year for a nice kick-back) .
So, what’s the word on these mustard plants? Should we sing praises to the beauty of these Elysian fields of chartreuse and emerald? Or rather should we curse their damnable comeliness back to the depths of hell from whence they spawned?
