The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - The Danish National Symphony Orchestra

OMG. What an amazing piece of music this is.

That was a crazy good version of one of the best theme songs ever.

Thanks for posting that. Hands down my favorite piece of music ever composed for a film.

Check out the earrings on the soprano.

Yep, that’s a top caliber orchestra, I’ve been subscribed to them for a long time.

I’ve enjoyed that vid for years. Always a treat to hear them do it again.

I’d really love to see the movie on the big screen at least once in the time I have left.

I remember my brother had an album that was a collection of Spaghetti Western themes that included G.B & U. I wore that album out.

Less accomplished - but very hearfelt.

Excellent ! My new favorite version !
(Which was previously this one by the Ukulele
Orchestra of Great Britain.)

Here’s an instrumental version by Italian fingerstyle guitarist Peppino D’Agostino. It starts with something else, so I’ve cued the video to his change in tuning and segue to the movie theme. Back it up to see the whole thing, if you like, it’s pretty good.

Oh, that looks interesting. I haven’t seen it, but the subject has interested me for some time, and I posted here two years ago about the sets and filming locations.

Yeah, everyone thinks the cemetery scene was filmed in Almería, in southern Spain, like the rest of the film and so many other Spaghetti Westerns, but it was actually filmed in Burgos, in northern Spain. You can tell by looking at the film, because the land is much greener.

I imagine most of the posters here know this, but the Danish National Symphony Orchestra does a lot of show & pop tunes, and demonstrates a lot of good humor and lack of pompous attitude in how they do them.

Their whole channel bears watching / listening.

The 1999 Metallica with the San Francisco Orchestra concert (Metallica S&M) also starts with The Ecstasy of Gold - Metallica - S&M 1999 [Full Concert] - YouTube

I was wondering as I watched how all those “serious orchestral musicians” feel about having to play what is essentially pop music. I’m glad they enjoy it!

Actual real question on these orchestral symphonies after watching the Danish National team play the theme to Jurassic Park-- Do the cymbal players play only cymbals? If so, that has to be the easiest job in the whole orchestra.

Their role is strictly cymbolic.

Yellow card! Your next pun violation will result in a red card and you will have to skip the next thread.

I liked the guy hanging from the rafters.

The first time I saw the video, that threw me as I had never seen the movie and didn’t know the plot.
