The Great Golf Tournament-- Round 2

OK, so if anybody remembers about a year ago my friend convinced me to join his team in our church golf tournament. Me, having never played golf with more than a putter, of course jump at the opportunity. Spend one day at the driving range, where I realize it’s going to be a very long day… and our team goes on to win the Tournament. (It was a Best Ball tournament… I managed to make one good drive, and one drive they had to take.)

I did turn out to be quite an effecient putter though. So I did help the team. But…

Now is the time for Defending Our Title! Good Grief… Last year my mighty shots would trickle anywhere from 10-50 yards on the ground. So I’m really looking for tips here!

I got at least two trips to the driving range planned this year. So long as I can get off at least two good drives, the rest is golden. (The team has to take at least one drive from each player in the front 9 and back 9.) But any ideas or tips-- greatly appreciated. Any advice that helped you kind of “get it” so to speak, awesome! Sympathy for my day… thank you.

Excellent partners!

Most people will say “Keep your head down” is the most important.

Here’s the best: Before the shot think of what you want to do, yada, yada, yada. Then when you step up to hit the ball don’t think about keeping your head down or anything else. Take a practice swing to help clear your head and then swing and hit the ball and don’t worry about where the ball is going (your partners will do that). This probably won’t make you a threat to your other partners, but it should produce one or two more “good” shots than the last time. Matter of fact don’t think about beating last time, just let it happen.
