Johnson is a fundamentalist shithead and probably a closet case, but he seems to place at least some importance in keeping his word and putting country before party.
That means Democrats can work with him, which is a lot more than can be said of most QOP Speakers of the last 30 years.
MGT and Speaker Johnson are both MAGA. But MGT is a Republican in Name Only. The definition of a political caucus is a group that agrees to vote with the majority of their group on procedural matters. Like electing the Speaker of the House or all manner of procedural votes. MGT is not a CINO: she is a RINO, just like Matt Gaetz. Discussion:
You’re quite right from the standpoint of political procedures.
My point was more about philosophy. When MGT and other MAGAts call never-Trumpers RINOs they’re not referring to procedural matters. They’re talking about beliefs and values. From my POV, the MAGAts exemplify the true beliefs and values the GOP has been promulgating since Gingrich, but on steroids. IOW, they’re the truest Republicans.
The pitfalls of a “faith based” worldview. There are things you know are The Truth™ because you Just Know it must be so regardless of proof or lack thereof and they are not limited to theology.
“A congresswoman we will not name was threatening to do this. After meetings with the Speaker where one would have supposed she would have asked for concessions, instead she just pulled the trigger. This just pissed us all off so we crushed her motion. But that was what she wanted because she doesn’t want concessions she just wants to look like the lone underdog fighting the swamp. Oh please.”
Vince Fong (R) just won the special election to take over McCarthy’s seat. He was running against another Republican and was endorsed by McCarthy and Trump.
The Hill is fairly sloppy. It’s a company owned by a friend of Trump, who tries to cash in on journalism done by others by summarizing and publishing it quickly, so their readers don’t have to spend hours and hours watching the top news sources, to determine how well political messages are spreading and what topics are likely to be popular in the near-term.
Nearly everything that they do is rife with misspellings and poor editing.
It’s a good source to follow but it’s not a “good” source.
