The Great SD SMOKE-OUT Topic - Part 2

Bratman, put me down for Friday. You’ll not smoke on my day even if it’s just so you won’t hear me nagging you all day. Actually I don’t nag. I gently coax and encourage. Not to mention a good listener when you just want to rant. You can do it buddy!!

WeirdDave, I’ll be happy to sponsor you too. Just let me know what day you want me. I’m here to support you my friend.

Hey guys,

I don’t get on the board as often as I’d like to, but I’m still hanging in there.

Hey hey guys, I’m still in. It’s not easy, but it’s easier every day. Let me know if someone need’s a sponsor…I can help ya out. The water is the trick Shayna.

Okay Eve posted while I was still composing my last post. Since she has asked to sponsor Bratman on Friday, I’ll take Saturday, June 3. Actually that works out even better for me since I’m home all day.

Thank you Eve and Grace, I really appreciate this!

I’d also just like to remind people I won’t need a sponsor on Sunday or Monday, since I won’t be at work to post here if I need help. But I promise everyone here that I won’t smoke on those two days and I’ll give you an update when I get back on Tuesday.

**One day, 13 minutes and 13 seconds. 15 cigarettes not smoked, saving $2.35. Life saved: 1 hour, 15 minutes.

Over one full day! I haven’t gone this long without a smoke for over 2 years (maybe 3, I’ve lost count). Thank you everyone for supporting me. It was rough going there, and it’s not over, but this sure made it easier. I swear I was thisclose to having a smoke, I seriously though about bumming a smoke off one of the guys at work. But I suffered through it and look forward to having to go through this all over again tomorrow.

Is there a smiley face that gives people the finger? Hey, Uncle Beer when are we gonna implement that one?

(Not that I would give the finger to anyone here, it just seems like a good way to vent some frustration.)

I’m here…don’t worry Wally! I had major computer problems last night and wasn’t able to get on here. (If I’m ever gone for an extended period without notice, my computer is the most likely culprit).

I still haven’t set up my meter, but I’m still plugging along.

Whoever needs sponsors, put me down for a day! I will check in as much as possible, assuming we’ve cleared up any problems with this stinking machine.

I don’t have anything to add really. I just wanted to move this up so our non-smokers can come in here and give us some updates.

Hi everyone. Here’s where I stand so far:
One day, 17 hours, 6 minutes and 56 seconds. 25 cigarettes not smoked, saving $3.98. Life saved: 2 hours, 5 minutes.

I still don’t feel the craving for a smoke that badly in the morning, but I’m expecting a replay of yesterday where I need one worse and worse as the day drags on. I took someone else’s suggestion from this thread (or the original Smoke Out, I forget) and I didn’t carry any money with me. Thanks whoever that was, or else I would’ve run into the closest gas station right after work yesterday and bought a pack. Luckily, by the time I got home I was able to occupy myself enough that the craving passed.

Anyway, not feeling all that hot, but still smoke free.

OK, Brat, today’s my day—DO NOt SMOKE today, on special request of Eve! In return, I will only eat low-cal, healthy food and will bypass the yummy ice cream, despite the fact that it’s 94º in NY today . . .

Not to tempt you or anything, but couldn’t you eat frozen yogurt? It tastes like ice cream and is low fat.

Doesn’t tempt me a bit—frozen yogurt tastes like curdled milk to me. Can’t stand the stuff.

So I’ll dash over to the Grand Central Market and pick up some chopped pineapple or something . . .

Grab me a pack of Marlboro Lights while you’re out, ok?

>>“Grab me a pack of Marlboro Lights while you’re out, ok?”<<

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Knock it off! Grrrr
(P.S. You’re doing great. A word to the wise. I’ve had Eve as a sponsor. Trust me, you don’t want to smoke on her watch or she’ll hurt you!)

sigh

11 hours, 4 minutes and 19 seconds.
13 cigarettes not smoked, saving $1.38.
Life saved: 1 hour, 5 minutes.

I have displeased the great and beautiful Shayna, whatever can I do to appease her?

hiding cigarettes behind his back and smiling sweetly

PS. Don’t get mad again about the hiding cigarettes thing. I was just playing around.
**One day, 19 hours, 4 minutes and 4 seconds. 26 cigarettes not smoked, saving $4.17. Life saved: 2 hours, 10 minutes.

Hang in there! Do you need a sponsor today?

I almost did it. I noticed a co-worker who smokes was not at his desk, so I went outside to see if he was smoking and if so, would he let me bum one.

Luckily (I guess), no one was out there smoking. I’m still smoke free, but not through any choice of my own. I’m really starting to doubt I’ll make it through the day. I can’t concentrate, I can’t stop fidgeting, and I mistakenly took a hit off a Windex bottle instead of my water bottle.

So far I’ve been smober: One day, 19 hours, 38 minutes and 34 seconds. 27 cigarettes not smoked, saving $4.23. Life saved: 2 hours, 15 minutes.
And losing all desire to carry this on any further.

Shayna! thank you

I’m doing okay so far, the zyban seems to actually really make a difference. I’m not having any nicotine fits or anything…just dealing with the habit of smoking.

I’ll keep checking in and let you know. Are you on ICQ?

trisha

Brat, I know how friggin hard this is. Go read the 2nd page of Smoke-Out #1 and see that I went through the same thing. I was completely disoriented, I couldn’t focus or concentrate, my head was spinning, I had a headache, my cheeks hurt for goodness sakes! I swear that if you ride this out it will get easier.

Don’t let the damn cigarettes win!!!

Stay strong! I promise you will never be sorry when you beat this thing!

Go for a walk. Drink water. BREATHE!

You promised Eve you would not smoke for her today. You can’t let her down, ok?!
