The Great Summer 2014 Postcard Exchange!

We did one in Winter. We did one in Spring. It’s time to start hovering over your mailbox again!

Elendil’s Heir, who coordinated the last coupla rounds, has graciously agreed to let me organize this one. So, here’s your opportunity to get three (3!!) postcards from Dopers around the world. (Okay, maybe not quite around the world, but last time we had some Dopers playing from Europe and Australia!) Besides, you are going to cool vacation spots right now, aren’t you? So pick up some postcards and share with your Doper friends.

Here’s how to participate:

Send me a PM with your real-life name and postal address by NOON Pacific Time on July 29.

By August 1, if not a bit sooner, you will receive a PM from me with the names and addresses of the three Dopers to whom you’ll send postcards. I’ll try to be sure that everyone gets at least one international Doper, but make no promises.

Purchase three postcards. Theme is up to you but, please, no x-rated cards. Local interest is good if you’re sending to a Doper outside of your country. Historical and tourist attractions and antique stores are good places to find postcards. Also, www.zazzle.com has great inexpensive postcards.

Write a short, clearly-written message. Be sure to sign it with your Doper name so they will know who sent it. Address them. Put postage on them. Mail them NO LATER THAN AUGUST 15.

Please report back here when you have mailed your cards and when you have received yours.

Be patient. Not everyone is Johnny-on-the-spot like you and they make take a bit longer to get their cards in the mail (but no later than August 15, right?)

Beware: I will not hesitate to secure the services of Rhymer Enterprises to deal with Dopers who sign up and do not follow through. You do not want one of Skald’s minions visitng you, so don’t let your fellow Dopers now.

All clear? Okay, go!

I’m in again.

I’m in again. PM sent.

I’m in! Love to get postcards.

Thanks for the PMs. Keep 'em coming!

C’mon now. We need more than six people to make this really interesting. You have until July 29 to sign up but don’t wait – PM me now!!

My written messages maybe dull but at least they will be sent from exotic Finland. I’m in!

I’m in, in, in, in! Sending a PM your way

o/’ o/’ Finland, Finland, Finlaaaaand… That’s the country for me! o/’ o/’

In again. !!!

Thanks Arrogance Ex Machina – I doubt that your message will be dull – and JoseB and Atomic Mama. You are all on the list. Thanks for playing!

Atomic Mama, I got your message about the PM and have made a note (in red ink!!) to email your list to addressees when the time comes.

Okay, I admit, I’m tempted to assign Arrogance Ex Machina to myself 'cause I want a postcard from Finland, but I promise to be fair in assignments (I’m drawing all the names out of hat!).

Keep those PM comings, folks. You can’t win if you don’t play!!

I’m in. Thanks for running the show this time!

I’ll play again too, postcards are fun

Thanks Elendil’s Heir and FluffyPickleSniffer. You are both on the list.

Keep 'em coming. So far, we have international players from the Cayman Islands, The Netherlands, Finland, and Canada. You’d like a cool postcard from one of those places, yes? Along with witty cards from US Dopers cross the country, of course. Of course you would. PM me.

I’m in. PM sent. Off to buy postcards this week. I bought extras the time before last and I still can’t find them.

Thanks minionkat. Keep looking. They have to be there somewhere!

PM sent, cards bought and stamped.

By all means, yes, please buy stamps and postcards now. Too often in the past, people wait until the round has begun, and then are, ahem, curiously unable to find them.

Gah. I want to, but the last round was really rough. Decisions, decisions.

Wasn’t the last round rough on you because you were incredibly creative and made your own postcards (or am I thinking of someone else)? You could just go with regular postcards this time and dress them up with colored markers, ya know.

C’mon, faithfool, you know you really, really wanna play.

I wish that was it. Out of my three recipients, only one was able to report they got it fairly shortly after I’d sent it. The other two took quite a while (due to moving and other things). I was afraid they’d been lost. Maybe this round would be better.

Thanks for the pep talk. I’ll probably give in soon, because I just can’t pass up such a sweet plea.
