The Green Berets have their first "G.I. Jane"

For the first time, a female soldier has graduated from the Army’s elite Special Forces course and will join one of the all-male Green Beret teams, capping a yearslong campaign to move women into the military’s front-line combat jobs.

Well, good.

Very good…but I am looking forward the day that such notices are no longer necessary because they are too common to make notice of at all.

Hoo-rah indeed

you can graduate the course and not be picked as a green beret but that is not common.

Given the way the schools system works for the National Guard she would almost certainly already have a slot sitting in the TX NG detachment of the 19th Special Forces Group. They simply would not have dedicated the huge cost for such a lengthy course from the state schools budget otherwise.

One of those times I wish we could just upvote a post.

I have been in the National Guard, and this is true, but the flipside is that it is harder to get into schools because of this system.
