The gun and ammo hoarders may have been right

It’s nice to know ahead of time that if the government comes to take away the rights of those you don’t approve of, we will know which way your gun will be pointing.

Personally, my new favorite amendment is #XXV.

“It needs but one foe to breed a war, not two. And those who have not swords can still die upon them.”
- Tolkien - The Return of the King

Given the numbers of people voting for Trump, I’m not really sure the average civilian stockpiling weapons is a particularly great thing to support. If there were to be some armed populace rising up, I’m not sure I’d count on which side they’d be on.

Are we talking standup comedy routine hilarious, PG family movie hilarious, or what? You seem to be predicting a massacre, which, I have to say personally, doesn’t sound like a good 2 o’clock movie showing.

That’s ridiculous revisionist history. The current threat to liberty and democracy is the far left.

This is a silly post. You should do better than give in to silliness like this. I don’t know what exactly are all the threats to liberty and democracy, but it’s pat and juvenile and not credible to simplify the answer into something like “the far left”, which is rather diverse in any case.

The biggest threat to liberty and democracy is crime … and crime at the highest levels of government … we need to start electing better congressmen … The Donald can’t appropriate the money for a military takeover, only Congress can … if the soldiers aren’t getting paid, maybe they won’t fight …

I kinda laugh at the comparisons to FDR … things were really bad in 1933 … radical change could only make things better … today not so much …

Hawkeye Pierce? The television character? The show’s writers would rather have the character commit suicide before he picks up a gun to defend himself, or others? In a war zone? Excuse me, in a police action zone? That’s interesting.

I hate to agree with Damuri Ajashi, but he’s correct. ‘When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.’ We on the left have been warning of this for years and years, pointing to evidence of growing oligarchy and authoritarianism all the while.

How silly-a doctor that doesn’t like to shoot people.

It is not uncommon for someone to have applied for status as a conscientious objector and then enter the military and train as a medic. As I recall, by some fluke Hawkeye was supposed to be Officer of the Day, which required that he carry a side arm.

Hotlips: I don’t know what a man like him is doing in the US Army!
Radar: He was drafted.

Refused to carry a weapon or kill anyone.

Saved 75 wounded men in one battle.

Hero.

Yes it has happened in real life, not just on the tee-vee.

You are conflating the TV Hawkeye with the movie Hawkeye. The movie version was much more nuanced.

Also she called him a degenerated person

He had his right side arm and his left side arm.

If the left have been warning about authoritarianism then why is it that the left, until now, have been all about eroding constitutional barriers to federal power?

The Left haven’t been eroding Constitution barriers to federal power. We’ve been trying to prevent the type of authoritarian takeover we’re now witnessing, by trying to reign in corporatists.

And the subject of director Mel Gibson’s Oscar nominated new movie, *Hacksaw Ridge. *

Great story, great man. And I don’t mean Mel.

The Korean shopkeepers didn’t have to shoot anybody to prevent looting during the LA riots but they couldn’t have done it without guns.

And not everyone needs to shoot. Somebody’s got to make witty signs.
