Maybe you can legitimately avoid the employer issue somehow.
“it takes a certain something to be a Doper”–that’s a very flattering picture you paint, but it may be a composite of the best of a spectrum of Dopers.
The jerks do get thinned out, and otherwise there may be a number of us that would get strangled if another one could catch us. Or who would bore, or mislead, or rebuke, all to no point.
If you’ll mostly ignore that stuff, we’ll mostly ignore any flaws you might show some day, OK? I do like your input.
But what about a concentration on the gun itself? If you fired at the gun, not the hand, would your chances of deflection increase, or perfectly, firing down the barrel and “blocking” the shot? This would be gun to gun in close proximity. I know the results would be erratic, but is that a viable option? Shooting straight at the gun barrel first?
In the hand?

I don’t like the idear of getting shot in the hand. The go home, Blackie.
…
Did ya kill him? Ah… no not exactly.
Not exactly?
*Well we tried to kill him Colonel, but he shot us in the hands. *
In the hands? Yeah and it hurts too!
