An oddly specific number DMark. From personal experience perhaps?
That is the bill he got to fix up his house after the last Las Vegas Dopefest. IIRC when I left it looked pretty much like the morning scene in the Hangover right down to the plasma screens at a 45 degree angle.
BTW Silenus do you collect $90 from your students for field trips?
Very funny movie I laughed my ass off.
I Love You, Man had Rush, so
That only added to the “meh” for me.
I liked both The Hangover and I Love You Man so I think that settles it once and for all.
Okay, I saw it (I know y’all were waiting with bated breath) and was a bit… underwhelmed. I blame the hype, in part, but I’m not sure how much I would have liked it had I gone to an advance screening. Zach Galifianakis was, predictably, odd and great, but the story felt sloppy and some of the running gags and random bits (the tiger, Mike Tyson) just didn’t ding my funnybone. Heather Graham was wasted – not the breastfeeding bit, which was actually quite inspired, but having her show up in, what, three scenes total? I couldn’t figure out if they cut out other scenes with her or added her at the last minute when they realized they’d made a Vegas movie with zero sex workers.
I also felt that it was cast badly. Whatshisface, the sleazy one, would have been played masterfully by Paul Rudd. And while I like Ed Helms, I just plain didn’t care for his character. I mean it was horrible that he was being abused (and, I’m happy to say, the possibly-supposed-to-be-funny bit about it didn’t get a single laugh), but he wasn’t particularly likable. I feel like Jason Bateman would have been a better choice.
That being said, I did laugh at Galifianakis’s little tics and that song he made up about friendship.
Sometimes it sucks being omniscient.
I saw it right after Mike Tyson’s daughter died so that part just made me feel sad for him. :smack:
I caught the movie last night and I pretty much knew pretty early that Doug was on the roof and I hadn’t read any spoilers.
But my question is why Alan,When looking for Alan in the hotel suite, didn’t notice that one of the mattresses was missing out of the suiteroom?
I think my favorite part (besides the slides at the end) was Heather Graham explaining to Ed Helms why his tooth was missing, then consoling him: “But you won!”
With the way everything was in there? I don’t know how easy it would be to catalog everything. Besides, he’s the kind of guy who eats couch pizza.
Even when they saw it they had assumed they threw it out while drunk.
Bradley Cooper is omigod yummy, which definitely added to my enjoyment.
Funny movie – not sure what they can possibly do for a sequel, though.
Bradley Cooper + black shirt + black suit = cinematic masterpiece
It amazes me that Jennifer Garner’s nerdy friend from the first few seasons of Alias is now some kind of superstud.
I like to think it was because Wayne Newton kicekd his ass after the guy sucker punched him
This was my kind of comedy. Very enjoyable, actually had me laughing out lound…something that doesn’t happen nearly as often anymore.
“Not you, Fat Jesus.” In fact, the whole taser scene was pretty good.
I didn’t even mind seeing Mike Tyson, and I hate that guy!
Saw the movie and thought it was laugh out loud hilarious. The theater I saw it in late Thursday night was packed and the reaction was almost universally the same.
My parents saw it later during the weekend and my Mother said she hated it.
I’m wondering if it’s an age thing. I’m 24, she’s 50 something. I’d be interested to see the ages of the people who love and hate it.
I’m your age–24. Didn’t like it.
And it’s not that I don’t like these types of movies; I thought I Love You Man was great.
I’m your mother’s age – 54 – and thought it was extremely funny.
Ohh yes. But I also love Justin Bartha so it was a bit disappointing, considering.
OK, I’m glad this thread is still alive. I just saw it and usually I don’t ever get around to seeing movies until at least a year or two after they come out, and by then the threads are zombies.
I didn’t like it.
I really wanted to like it- I’ve been getting concerned lately that for some reason I don’t find most comedies very funny. But the whole thing pretty much fell flat for me. There were funny situations, and a few funny lines, but I only actually lauged twice- at the shot of the guys in their Rain Man suits coming down the escalator to “Iko Iko”, and at one of the photos during the credits.
For instance, after about 5 minutes watching the four guys interact it became clear that those four personalities wouldn’t be able to stand each other in real life. With the exception of Alan, who was just sort of thrust upon them, Bradley Cooper’s character was way too frat-boy party animal, and Ed Helms’ character was way too straightlaced pussy-whipped dork, and Justin Bartha’s character was way too dull and boring, to ever be ‘best buds’. The fact that we’re supposed to believe these four disparate personalities would work together- even as a movie convention- distracted me the whole time.
Maybe it’s one of those movies that will become a classic and if it does, and certain dialogue from it becomes woven into the popular culture, I’ll discover it’s better than I originally thought.
I’m 42, for whatever that’s worth.
