The Hay System/Method and HR

A friend of mine (honest!) is having their job description re-assessed by HR. HR is using the Hay System to determine what the job entails. This will have implications for salaries. When they ask for clarification on the Hay System, they are told by HR that it proprietary and HR can’t release details.
All the people being evaluated are women.A quick literature search suggests the Hay system may reinforce gender stereotypes, and that much depends on how HR formulates the questions and the process and how it interprets the answers.
Does anyone have experience with the Hay system, from either side?

No experience with this but it’s probably not much different than other employee evaluation systems, which tend to work as well as any random arbitrary method of evaluation except the company can claim it was completely fair because they were just following the book.

Lol: the company started out by saying the process would be fair because it would rely on the system as laid out. The obvious fear is the company will get the result it wants, which is likely to mean no raises despite increases in work and responsibilities.

Depends on the company. Of course they’ll want to cut themselves a good deal, but often companies use these systems to wash their hands of the matter. It doesn’t mean these systems are fair, but they aren’t always manipulated either.
