Wouldn’t that be parasitism, rather than symbiosis?

If I recall correctly, symbiosis covers a bunch of stuff, including parasitism, mutualism, and commensalism. On the other hand, I took high school biology in 1969-70, so I might not recall correctly.

I was taught a slightly different definition: symbiosis was a form of parasitism where the parasite actually provided a benefit to the host organism. However, considering I’ve seen serious attempts to describe predator-prey relationships in terms of symbiotic relationships for the species, I’m not about to say there’s no one who claims that fleas are symbiotes.
