Ah, yes. The welfare person who came into our office and announced “I just got rent subsidy for a 4 bedroom, and they say I’m entitled to a house.” Entitled by who? At a time when house prices are going through the roof and everything is being put on the market for sale, and we are having a hard time finding apartments for working people not on subsidy, you are “entitled” to rent a house?
We did have a nice 2BR house for rent and when the landlord took a working person, several subsidy people complained. “Well, if it would get me a place to live, the landlord should be forced to accept subsidy.” I hear that all the time.
