and it’s driving me nuts!
I finished the last loaf earlier than anticipated so I had to make myself another loaf. It came out of the oven 10 minutes ago.
It’s making me feel very hungry!
Argh!

10 minutes? Why aren’t you eating it already?
No loaf I’ve ever made has lasted 10 minutes without being sliced into.
It needs time to cool down properly. Plus eating directly before going to bed isn’t such a good idea.
But how will the butter get all melty and good if it’s not eaten within 1 minute of coming out of the oven???
A few decades ago when I was not working for money, just raising small children, I and a friend used to try to find ways to economize. We figured out the cost of baking our own bread, and decided the home made was far less than the cost of the cheapest store brand loaf, even with the cost of energy for cooking. Trouble was, we discovered we were using it up twice as fast because it was so darn good! Now I think I have to bake some bread this weekend.
Yeah, but compared to the price of bread which is a pleasure to eat it’s dirt cheap. Cheap supermarket bread (in the UK at least) is utterly shite.
I had some this morning. It was gorgeous.
I’ll be right over.
