Hunter wasn’t a Republican. Duh.
That’s absolutely true. But the rabid honey badgers sitting on the R side of the House don’t think it’s enough that he’s been investigated and charged with some crimes that he actually committed. They have to hold congressional hearings to take secret testimony, then lie about what that testimony was, then whine because Hunter is getting away with everything they’ve made up about him and his father isn’t being held liable for the make believe crimes. Meanwhile they ALSO whine about their own being held accountable for real crimes and call it political persecution, a witch hunt, election interference, and any other derogatory term that comes to mind.
Hunter was a drug addict. Hunter didn’t pay taxes for a few years. Hunter lied when he bought a gun. These are all true statements.
Hunter is supposedly clean now. Hunter paid his taxes as well as fines and fees and was going to plead guilty to tax evasion in return for some leniency on the gun paperwork charge. Plea deals are how probably 80-90% of all criminal cases are resolved. He’s not “gotten away” with anything. I’m reasonably sure every target of the four criminal probes involving trump have been offered or will be offered plea deals.
If Hunter is found guilty of any other crimes he certainly should be held accountable for them. I don’t hear anyone disputing that. The dispute comes from the fact that Republicans seem to see no contradiction in calling rumors and speculation absolutely damning when applied to Hunter Biden (Where there’s smoke there’s fire, we just haven’t found the fire yet, but you better believe it exists and is the worst thing EVAH!!! Proof in two weeks. Just wait.) all the while denying objective, verifiable, repeatable proof of trump’s many and varied crimes as pure political interference that should never happen.
Simply, they think it’s not purely political to repeatedly attack your opponent’s deeply flawed son, even to the point of showing his dick pics in a session of congress, and to scream about a crime family with no proof whatsoever. But it is purely political to investigate crimes involving overturning a US election and stealing government secrets and lying about it. “Democrats are just trying to detail his candidacy, no other reason. Purely political.”

Well, when you put it that way, I sort of see where they’re coming from.
They are literally saying that they have proof that Joe Biden was receiving millions of dollars in illegal payoffs because his son Hunter was shaking down foreign companies and governments. I’ve heard “most corrupt President ever.” I’ve heard “Five million dollars to Joe’s shell LLC.” “The Ukraine prosecutor wasn’t corrupt. But Joe Biden got him fired anyway.”

And Biden isn’t losing his mind on Twitter? The House Democrats aren’t threatening to burn down the FBI and DOJ and ASPCA? No wall to wall cable news coverage on the weaponization of the Federal government against the Biden family? Huh!
That’s because the few brave truth-seekers and patriots left in the DOJ who dare to do this are no match for the vast deep state that will surely prevent this from going anywhere. Sleepy Joe Biden and the Demonrats know this.

The gun case is almost never prosecuted as it is of very doubtful Constitutionality.

There was a plea deal. It blew up during the hearing. Back to square one. No double jeopardy, as it appears to be on track for trial.
Sort of. The judge correctly sussed out that the two sides didn’t actually agree on what it meant, which meant it wasn’t a plea deal, because there was no meeting of the minds. And the efforts to bridge this gap ultimately failed.

How can we ever know how much of this whole thing is politically motivated? I’m not saying it is, and I’m not saying Hunter didn’t commit any crimes, but all this “yes there’s a plea deal,” “oops, now there’s not” stuff makes it very difficult to tell what’s going on. I don’t get it.
And by politically motivated, I mean there are some trumpers involved in this and the GOP is trying to make it sound like Hunter is the criminal of the century. Like, if Hunter ends up with anything less than “life with no possibility of parole,” Joe must have interfered.
Life with no possibility of parole for . . . two misdemeanors!

Well, the judge is a trump appointee, and the two “whistleblowers” violated all sorts of federal laws, not to mention that was nothing there.
