Incidentally, two other artists who could’ve been on my “underrated” post covered this song: Robert Forster (of the Go-Betweens) on his album “I Had A New York Girlfriend” and Marshall Crenshaw on “Miracle Of Science.” I haven’t heard the EP version - maybe you could bring a copy to the Dopefest, Snooooopy?
I’ll hunt around for it. The only copy I have is on a cassette dub. On that cassette dub I also have the EP’s stripped-down version of “Come, Come,” which I also think works better than the version on “Intolerance.”
As far as the Go-Betweens, I like Forster but I would probably consider myself a McLennan man.
I certainly like McLennan’s solo stuff better (“Watershed” was great) but must admit that in the Go-Betweens I have a hard time telling who wrote what. Sorry, didn’t mean to turn this into a Go-Betweens thread.
