I was wondering, in light of the Schiavo issue in the US, is there ever a reason given for the illegality of suicide?
Is it a hangover from more religious times? My Dad, an ex-assistant bank manager, said it had something to do with people seeking to use life insurance to tie up financial loose ends to help their families (or maybe this was just an idea of his, it was years since he explained it to me)
