Er … I’m having a little trouble matching the last 2 lines to the rhythm of the 2nd stanza.
Mad Magazine once had a musical version of Star Wars. I don’t know if they ever followed it up with the sequels, but this is completely worthy of being included.
Me too, but…that was how it was transcribed, I’m afraid. (I read it in the Internet’s relative infancy.)
I remember that. I still have that issue. It was called The Force and I. (It came out the same year as their Lord of the Rings musical, The Ring and I, which I’ve sadly lost.)
None of the songs were to John Williams tunes. I remember:
[ul]
[li]C-3PO translating R2-D2’s distress message to the tune of “Doe, a Deer” from The Sound of Music[/li][li]Darth Vader describing his daily routine to the tune of Sinatra’s “My Way”[/li][li]Obi-Wan Kenobi lamenting the direction Alec Guinness’s career had taken to the tune of “The Windmills of Your Mind”[/li][li]Han Solo refusing to assault the Death Star to the tune of “I Like to Be in America” from West Side Story[/li][li]Luke assaulting the Death Star in Darth Vader’s TIE fighter (!) to the tune of “We’re Off to See the Wizard” from The Wizard of Oz[/li][li]The cast winding up with a grand finale to the tune of “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face” from My Fair Lady[/li][/ul]
We’re off to kill the bad guys, and blow them right out of the sky!
I absolutely LOVED that one! It’s in “Mad About Star Wars.”
Leia: Help us to blow up the Death Star!
Han: Crazy, I think, is what you are!
Leia: Being so greedy is not nice!
Han: I’d sell Chewbacca at half price!
There’s actually a transcript of the whole thing on this page.
You people need to listen to the Goldentuskplaylist.
Han: “One thing is clear in the ga-la-xy,
Your end is near in the ga-la-xy!
You’ll disappear in the ga-la-xy,
While I’m still here in the ga-LA-xyyyy!”
Mind-reader!
I guess I get to be the first to mention “Empire on Ice”.
That’s how Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality handled it.
amazed nobody has mentioned the Bill Murray song yet
See post #9
I’m pretty sure the last line should be “That’s why Darth Vader ran away from home”.
I’ve never seen that before. The Wompa singing to the tune of the first Imperial March (from episode IV) was a nice touch.
Or forgo the lyrics, and just lounge it up!
