The Incoming Holidays MMP

earworm time!

Those pictures makethis look somewhat normal.

Oh hey. It’s Monday.

And holiday time.
yay

Afternoon all. Last week was a little nuts and went by in a bit of a blur. In the middle of our end of year meeting my boss quit and was escorted off the premises by security. His boss pissed him off for the last time. So yeah fun.

I am in Tulsa for an event for a couple of days then I am headed home for the holidays. Home being back to the UK for a couple of weeks. Judging by the weather they have had and are expecting at the end of the week I am going to freeze my hiney off. Man have I got soft living in CA.

Everyone on our street adheres to the unofficial ‘no ugly inflatables’ rule. We all agree they are ugly and hence none go up. I agree on the need for a Santa delivered dart gun swampy

One sure sign of the holidays is my sister’s homemade, computer generated card with a label-maker-addressed envelope. It’s always the first one we get, and this year so far, the only one we’ve gotten. Probably because I don’t send cards out any longer.

The other sign are the obnoxious ads on TV. Along with ads for the Very Special episodes of network series. Do they still broadcast It’s a Wonderful Life thirty bazillion times a season?

Thankfully, they’re not playing the endless loop of Christmas music at work - one year they started right after Thanksgiving and it made me crazy! I had a dentist appointment the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and they had a station with the really bad pop versions of carols. The dental tech said she was sick of them already!

The older I get, the grinchier I get. The holidays feel too plastic. I’m dreading the visit to the inlaws - not that I dislike them, I’m just dreading the day-long trek down I95 and the day-long trek back home. Fa la la la la… :stuck_out_tongue:

Monday down. C’mon Firday!!! Oh yeah - and welcome back, Puggy! I’ve missed you!!

Every kiss begins with K(ay)? Bullshit. Most of mine began with Bud Light…

It’s been a crazy day at work. I’m too tired for this.

Our work holiday party was Friday, and it was a lot of fun. And the Marilyn dress looked great. I’ll try to remember to upload a pic later.

We were snowed in for the last two days. We got about 18" around here. I made potato-broccoli-cheese soup and baked chocolate chip gingersnaps and korova cookies. And KT made his awesome gumbo, which is the perfect meal on a cold, snowy day. And I think will be awesome as leftovers tonight too so I don’t have to cook.

I did get outside over the weekend and got some sun - as much sun as one can get when bundled against the cold, but I’m still feeling blue. I love winter sports and the snow on the trees and just winter in general, and yet I always end up feeling down from the dark. Blah.

din din is cream cheese & lox on a whole grain flatbread. Omnomnomnom. Smokey is jealouos.

Heh, the answering machine and receiver hiders made me giggle.

My contribution to the courthouse picture collection (well, I didn’t take the picture, but it was one of the first pictures I could find of it). So it may be…triplets separated at birth.

Sticky! Puggy! All kinds of people we haven’t seen in a while!

Cool video du jour. Cajun Man shared it elsewhere. All the instrumental pieces are actually the performer (Mike Tompkins) doing some type of vocalization.

Am making some chicken thighs with a bit of applesauce, ginger, soy sauce, leeks, ginger and other stuff I’m forgetting. With a few potatoes and carrots, too.

And the cranberry salad that I made yesterday.

Yum.

Back later.

GT

Supper was chickie noodle soup with homemade broth, chickie tits, celery, onion, carrots and noodles. I thought I’d have enough for lunch tomorrow, but nope. All gone. Very yum.

Gonna go assume the knit position now. But I’ll be in early tomorrow - the furnace guy is coming between 8 and noon.

See ya laterz!

I just wanted to come in here and post that it’s 57 amerikan here in the Pacific Northwest. :snerk: With an expected low overnight of about 39.:stuck_out_tongue:

I too am sick of the Xmas music, and the Og-awful Xmas ‘specials’ on TV that have been broadcast for the last 20 years. They weren’t that good to begin with.

I do remember though, when I was a kid in Pensacola, Fla; on Christmas Eve one of the local TV stations would broadcast Mr. Peabody and the Mermaid in it’s entirety, without commercials. The story was that it was so that the station employees could have their Xmas party without interruption. I dunno, but we would (sorta) watch it every year. It was a Christmas Eve tradition.

oops. Gotta go. Hugs, Salmons, etc.

gt - I LOVE THAT “DYNAMITE” VIDEO!!! The man has a new fan for life. I’ve already downloaded it for my iPod.

There’s even a version for Echod, Soapy, & me!

Well, shoot, rosie, I thought I’d shared the Maccabeats version too. I think I must have shared it in the Happy Hannukah thread and not here. Isn’t it awesome? I couldn’t remember why the Mike Tompkins video looked and sounded so familiar…this video was why.

And now I’m back with yet another video; this time the digital story of the Nativity (speaking of the holidays…). Looks like it was put together by a tech company that’s based in Lisbon. The Portuguese version has been up for a week and has over 800,000 views. I find it amusing that the soundtrack is Jingle Bells.

David Pogue has been sharing lots of good videos lately on Twitter. I think the last 3 I’ve shared were from him.

Forgot earlier: glad the party was fun,** taxi**.

Also, hope the meds get straightened out, ruble.

Off to get some work done…

Hugs.

I got pressed into minute takin’ at the meetin’ tonight. So they’re all writ up and I sent a copy to the Senior Warden (elected chair of the Vestry) to see if I missed or messed up anything before sendin’ to everybody else. Our Clerk was stuck at work so that’s how I ended up doin’ 'em.

Other than that, I’s tahred and goin’ beddy bye. I’ll check out all the videos tomorrow. Too tired to look at 'em right now.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

I love that I don’t shop and I watch almost no live tv (yay! for dvr) so I’m missing all the holiday hoopla.

I’m unemployed again. I got fired because, well, I was a terrible employee. As far as I can tell, my depression is acting up and I had no energy and no desire to do anything. I’m taking St. John’s Wort which seems to be helping. I’m trying to get freelance work and I’m going to apply for unemployment. So, y’know, if you need any graphics or illustrations made, I’ve got a thread in the marketplace.

The hearing for my name change is next week. I can’t wait.

Ended up talking to the doc around 6pm and we got us some new medication plans afoot. Just a matter of giving them a couple weeks and having some bloodwork and some luck.

Weather/conditions bring on a bad flare for me more than food. I honestly can’t describe the pain. I’ve broken teeth, had burns to the point that they moved skin, had a few compound fractures and a really nice little cardiac incident. I would rather have them all again at the same time than one really basic level flare. One of the reasons I take what Doc suggests on that front real serious like.

11 days till Xmas(my tree is up), 9 days till Festivus(my pole is up.)

Ruble. hope the new meds work.

swampy, I do the minutes for the Booster Club. I take a wek to dothem(they get what they pay for.;))

 snow!

I posted before swampy this morning. neener neener!
