The Incoming Holidays MMP

I could have slept in, but my internal clock and my cat won’t let me, so I’m up. **FCD **has left for work and I think daughter just got up. I need to grab a shower soon - the furnace guys are supposed to call about 30 minutes before they come, and I don’t want to miss the call by being in the shower.

It’s cold here: 20°F when I let Scruffy out, and windy. I kinda hope the furnace guys come towards the later end of the range so I won’t feel guilty about not going in, because I really don’t feel like going to work today. We shall see.

I didn’t mention yesterday - we got a laptop for the inlaws - they were shopping and kept calling **FCD **for advice, but that sort of thing is hard to do over the phone with a couple of semi-technophobes. So **FCD **picked one out that was sorta in their price range, and we paid the difference, plus we got them a modem and a wireless router that we’ll set up when we get there. Unless their ISP provides them a freebie modem, in which case we’ll return the one we got. And one less dial-up user in the world…

Anyway, the computer arrived yesterday, so we were cleaning off the crap and putting on stuff we knew they’d use. I need to copy some of my arcade games, plus bookmark a few sites I think they’ll like. We picked a photo of the two of them plus one of their dog to use as wallpaper on their accounts. It’s just too adorable!

And that’s all the news from FairyChatLand. I think I may bake cookies today since I’m home with not a lot to do. The cleaning girls came yesterday, so the house is mostly tidy. Oh, and I need to finish 5 more squares and my little afghan will be ready to assemble. I’m thinking of edging all the squares in white, then using black to sew them together. I think. We shall see.

Happy Tuesday! Stay warm or cool as appropriate!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. 'Tis 23 Amurrkin out! BRRRRRRRRR!!! Made for a brisk walk to get the paper.

Rosie I posted after you!!! NEENER! NEENER! NEENER! That means I got to stay in bed a bit longer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Irk will be pretty much at the office today which is fine by me bein’ as it’s cold.

Meatloaf for dindin. It’s already made up thus I am committed to makin’ it.

Ok, more caffiene plus brekkie time and then purtification must commence.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Freezing cold out: 10 Merrkun, -12 Furrin.

Sorry about your job and the depression, STG. Glad the name change is progressing.

I’ve already been on the phone with work 3 times and now need to be motivated to go in.

Could someone push me out the door, please?

Is it Firday, yet?

Hugs.

GT

Morning all, up and caffeinated and brekkied too. Gee, GT, I just asked myself the same question!! It is icy cold here too, as well as windy, which is definitely NOT the sort of weather that makes you leap out of bed. I do have things that need to get done today at work, so must go in.

Have a good day all!

Showered, more or less dressed (in a sweatsuit - appropriate in the house, but not for work) and presently enjoying a PB&J and diet coke - breakfast of champions!! I always want to say breakfast of champignons, but that only works with a mushroom omelet.

Daughter has left for work and I’m treading lightly so as not to disturb her pup - I’m not ready to let him up here. I do need to clear a path to the furnace, but it’ll take 5 minutes, so I can do it when they call.

Meanwhile, a little more surfing, then, who knows? I have some butter softening so I can make cookies. That’s as far as I’ve planned. Yanno, I could really get into this not-working mode. Too bad it doesn’t pay the bills.

w00t!! w00t!! Boo YAH!!!

I took a late evening bambilance run for an elderly almost neighbor to fell and cut her head, requiring stitches. It was a nothing call actually, but what makes it noteworthy is I didn’t have any back troubles during or after.

Yeah I was careful, but I still did my required lifting, and the ride to the horsepistol on the rough seats in back was non-painful. It’s about frikkin’ time…

I’m too happy this morning to blurf.

Good morning!

Another slow day to get through here at work. At least our weather is fabulous! 47° American this morning - with an expected high of 68°! It’s supposed to be nice all week. We really could use some rain, though.

Mr Rebo and I discussed the budget, and it looks like we can’t afford the personal trainer for me. Maybe in the spring, after we get some bills paid off. In the meantime, I’ll still go and do the best I can. During the “freebie” consultation I got (read: mega-sales push), the trainer showed me how to use some of the machines correctly. He promised me two more free days, but he might change his mind when I tell him no to his deal.

Three more days! I am sooo ready for vacation.

ShinyCat - I’m sorry about your job. Feel better soon, ok?

Ruble - OWW! A co-worker of mine has gout. I hope your meds get sorted out.

Tonight’s dinner shall be chicken and dumplings. I have spoken!

Blurf!

Yay for the better back, BBBobbio!

Furnace guy is here. They didn’t call, so he had to wait a few seconds while I cleared him a path. No huge deal. He’s doing whatever down there and I’ve got the idiot pug up here with me.

I’ve decided I’m not going back to the office. By the time he gets done and I get dressed and drive to work, I’ll have barely half a day left. And there’s nothing really going on at the moment, so I may as well burn my leave, right? Plus I’ve got butter softening - I’ve got to bake cookies now!

LUCKY! All we get is the cold. Mississippians aren’t used to 24 degrees. I love it myself, but then again, I’m not from here. I just want a few feet of snow! But I want advance warning so we can hit the store and stock up: when it snows here, everything grinds to a screeching halt.

VBob, that’s great to hear! You have every reason to be happy. Just don’t do a happy dance yet until you’re 125% positive it’s healed.

ETA: First on page 2!

We’ve had an eventful weekend. Hubby had second chemo treatment on Friday: no bad side effects during chemo, which was good. He’s nauseous, and his BG is shooting through the roof, but we have insulin for that. He felt good enough to play with the church handbell choir on Sunday morning: and he cooked roast for our 13th wedding anniversary last night.

Furnace guy is done and gone. Most I would have put in would be 3 hours at work, plus an hour commuting. I opted out. yay!

Haven’t caught up but need to vent.

I have a crazy work project that has been going on for a couple weeks, getting more frustrating with every round. It includes a file from a different department, and I need to exclude anyone on that list. But I just found this morning that the list includes two different fields. So I’m trying to match, assuming it contains a 5-character field like it did last year, but most of the values are 13-characters. BUT NOT ALL. So now I have to figure out how to separate out the 5-character from the 13-character values and match to two new files. WHY? For the love of clean data, WHY would you put two different field values into one field??

taxi, good luck with that. That would send me right through the ceiling.

Bobbio, I’m so glad the back is doing better!

Although it was unnaturally warm yesterday, the temps have dropped today. We had one hell of a storm blow through in the wee early morning hours; rain, hail, wind, thunder and lightning.

When I left, though, it seemed relatively calm. By the time I got to work, it was pouring rain and the wind was just crazy. It was constantly changing direction and totally trashed my umbrella. For the first time, that umbrella flipped inside-out, not once, but four times on my trek to the office from the parking lot. This umbrella is supposedly not supposed to do that.

Anyway, now the umbrella is broken, and I’ll need to get a new one tonight on my way home.

Hugs to all. It’s been rather crazy for me these past weeks.

Because people are idiots. :frowning:

Did Yahoo die today, or is it just me that can’t get anything there to open?

It must be you **BusDude **- I just got to my mail and the main Yahoo page… No doubt it’s a plot against you…

Stupid bunch of Yahoos!!!

For those on Facebook, visit

I believe. Among the photos you can play a rousing game of “spot the me”. I actually got a few good ones in various peoples albums this year.

It’s not getting any better. There’s a file on our shared drive that one group is updating, but then someone in another group said she had a more recent file and maybe I should be using that one. It just goes on and on like that. I talked to the IT guy who did this last year, and he said it was like this then too. That made me feel slightly better since misery loves company.

Now they’re saying we have to do this process again for a different class of customers. Yippee.

I think I might be able to win the cold wars. It’s 6.7F or -14C here. With the 18" of snow we got over the weekend on top of the 8" we’d gotten the weekend before. Unless the former MMPer from somewhere in Alberta shows up, I think that’s probably the coldest temperature in the MMP.

Glad the back’s getting better Bobbio. I’m still waiting for that moment.

Yay for the furnace and for a cookie-baking day FCM.

Sorry about the job, ShinyCat.

Last night I ripped out a scarf that’s supposed to be a xmas present. It was too wide, which meant it was also too short. I’ve started again, but I think I still need to make it two stitches narrower. And then need to redo it in a week. At least I decided just to do seed stitch so it should go quickly. And it’s on 15s so it won’t take too long to make a scarf. I hope! I think I may also use this opportunity to burn some time off. If my other xmas presents arrive, I think I’ll do that and go to the PO to get the box for my parents into the mail. During a non rush time at the PO. And pick up the last present I need for KT at the maul also during non rush time. Friday’s looking more and more like the day for that, again, assuming that my packages arrive before then. ::fingers crossed::
