There is an intro and outro to “All The Things You Are” that is commonly played by jazz groups, but doesn’t seem to be written into the original composition. Here is Charlie Parker playing it.
Who was the first to play it this way?
Christ, I’ve heard that a million times, and always figured it was part of the head arrangement.
When sung as a Standard, you sometimes get the Verse before the Refrain. As here: https://youtu.be/1tyERna-Srg?t=12 That Verse is in my piano sheet music, and I really like it.
As for the jazz intro, never heard that one but I’m not an expert on jazz. IMHO it isn’t the best. I’ve got other intros in my collection and they follow the chords or motiv’s more clearly. Do you have another example?

It’s the strangest intro I know because it has no relationship to the musical structure of the tune, and is a tonally jarring intro to a very melodic tune with conventional harmony (except that the tonic chord barely makes a cameo appearance).
I can’t find an original version of copyrighted sheet music, but vocal versions never use this intro, and usually use another sung intro (or verse) that was originally written. The tune was written for a musical and that type of verse (often rubato, almost like a recitative) is common in songs from musicals. (There was a such a verse written for* Over The Rainbow* but it was cut during editing of the movie.) So I’m thinking some cat came up with this new jazz intro and everybody else just copied it. But I don’t know who was the first.
